Well, the Sox are going down fighting. Their victory in Houston on Friday means that they have avoided a sweep in 3 of their last 4 series, and are 3-7 in their past 10. At 30-95, they may have already been eliminated from playoff contention.

They're guaranteed to not tie the 1916 Athletics' record of 29-100.

The 1962 Mets went 34-100 as did the 2003 Tigers. The 1935 Braves went 33-100 while the 1904 Senators went 32-100.

Look, I realize that I only turned to ChiSox-Giants as comfort food after enduring the Mets getting throttled by Baltimore, but those San Francisco Bridge Toll Collectors' uniforms have to be worst Chitty Connect unis I have seen. I just can't get over the "obscured by fog" treatment of the uniform numbers.

Worse than the Los Angeles Dept. of Sanitation blues. Worse than the Colorado Forest Rangers. Worse even than the New York (N) 19th Century Prison Keepers' duds. (Seriously, with the grey unis and the black pinstripes, I keep expecting the Mets to pull out a large iron ring with latchkeys attached, and unlock the heavy wooden door leading to The Tombs.)

I'm not sure why all the Chitty Connect unis that I can recall offhand (bar the Boston Italian Ice Vendors) seem to be representing various municipal workers, but there we have it.

As a former umpire myself, I’m the last person to advocate robo umps.

But after watching many games this year, put the Robot in. Either that or bring the hammer down on these terrible umps and raise the standard of MLB umpires.

I was at the last Bay Bridge series, sat in section 219. I was surprised at how many foul balls reached that area so I’m not surprised this kid caught 3 when only 50 people show up to the games.

White Sox have successfully clinched their 100th L of the year, and at 31-100 are worse than the 1962 Mets, that had a lofty 34 wins before posting their 100th loss.

However, the Mets see the White Sox next week, and there are few things the Mets can do better than lay an egg or three.
