LOL. Yeah, this is pretty terrible.

Whoever came up with this solution for the devs should probably be fired.

If I EVER plan on using ANY combinator this year (which I do), then this is completely worthless.

Turning a combinator worth 100 (iron) to 5000 (diamond) combinator pts into the basic version of the card so you can 5pp (iron) to 4kpp (diamond) makes zero sense to do if you are EVER going to upgrade ANY combinator (yes, I'm repeating myself). Ridiculous.

Combis and chemistry seem like features born out of "hey, I created this cool code that can figure out the links between cards and we should figure out some features to make use of it" rather than anything the game really needed.

In any lootbox/gacha game, the devs will want to give whales something they can do with all the resources they pile up. I'm sure that also drove the combi thing.

Instead of combis, I think they should have super rare "foil" version of cards that can't be upgraded but come with the same stats as, say, an L3 combi. Enough to make whales spend millions in the shop but not enough to annoy the rest of the player base.

Allow them to quick sold for a decent minimum or sold on the market.

Far more elegant. Zero extra cognitive load on the players in an already complicated game. And you also don't have people trying to code in badly needed quality of life features to the combinator system.*

*it is incredible how unwieldy that system is. All other criticisms of combis aside, trying to buy 30 pieces of combi food and then combinating is over a hundred clicks. Something no non-indie game would ever let pass through testing.

They probably dont want to upset the economy of the game or tick off the whales. If a F2P player has collected 20 combinators over the course of the year with a quicksell value of 175k, that would be 175k, that was not purchased, and could be used towards the missions or purchasing of individual cards. The whales would be upset because the F2P player, now has some resources to try an compete with them, after they had spent all that money building their teams. The people that are advising the developers should all be fired...

LOL.

So, we can now sell combinators using the following chart:

Iron 2,001P now 5P quick sell
Bronze 5,001P now 25P
Silver 10,001 now 100P
Gold 20,001 now 1,000P
I don't recommend converting Diamond or Perfect Combinators. It's too sad to even think of.

So, if you are allowing the cards to be converted downward, why don't OOTP just allow for a reasonable quicksell to begin with?

Because they don't want to upset the whales? The whales are not, of course, stupid, so they won't pay those minimum prices for the average Combinator, especially since the devs have already reduced the boost points those cards generate. Those of us who aren't interested/can't afford Combis are getting whacked on both ends. Whale interest in the garbage Combis is down due to reduction in boost points, and the devs aren't going to let us quick-sell them for anything reasonable.

I do, however, have a solution! Rather than have a conversion/quick-sell in the next update, why not reduce the Combi minimum sale price to regular card quick-sell plus one? Combis can then fall to their supply-and-demand price points, and we won't get screwed losing thousands of PP in alleged value (which is part of an artificial Soviet-style pricing system anyway). Yes, there will be the danger that players will funnel Combis between their teams, but isn't it the devs' job to catch and punish funneling anyway?

I can tell you with absolute certainty that “The Whales” couldn’t care less about this. It doesn’t impact them in any way whatsoever.

People who didn’t want to use combinators wanted a way to get rid of them (and OOTP was never going to let them be quicked for the min sell price) and now people can. And some cases they de-evolve them and sell, say in the case of a terrible perfect that nobody will pay 100k for, you might be able to now sell it for 40k just because it’s in a mission.

The biggest issue in all this is that OOTP doesn’t seem to have a way to separate quicksell prices from min sell prices. What you’re seeing in combinators was never intended to be a quicksell price.

I don’t believe the whale theory. The reduction of boost points really hurt this process. I am willing to combine my combinators to one card but the boost points are not there do it. And the sell option isn’t there either unless you have a decent diamond or perfect

Please don’t include combinators in future versions of PT?

Well..the term Whale is amorphous. I have no problem using it to describe players who have tournament rosters full of level 5 Combinators (and there are a few with top-flight Combis on their league rosters as well, but those cards are often saleable in the card shop and are really outside this discussion). Whether they acquired those through cash input or otherwise, they're clearly much larger fish than the rest of us.

I think his main point is just that the whales (however defined) don't care about this - if a player uses a combinators, then there are really no bad combinators to pull, and a perfect or diamond combinator is worth a ton of combinator points.

So whales don't care at all about quickselling or otherwise getting rid of combinators. They have no issue with that at all.

The people who care are like me, annoyed by having 20K and 50K cards I can't use for anything sitting in the inventory or card shop.

I'll admit I'm of two minds on this. Not on combis themselves...I hate them...but on the downgrade/quicksell.

On the one hand, it's annoying to think you've received this marvelous treasure that can net you a big pile of PP, even for an iron combi, only to feel forced to downgrade it and sell it for cheap. That was certainly my initial reaction to the concept.

But on the other hand, the effective value of an "asset" that absolutely no one will buy is...zero. The downgrade at least lets us get something for these dogs, rather than having them clog up our card lists.

So...list them for a month. If they sell, great. I've had a few combis bought, and the influx of PP is wonderful. If they don't sell, un-combi them and QS, and at least get a little something that's better than the nothing you're currently getting. If, like me, the vast majority of your packs are free Twitch drops anyhow, then it's still a net gain, even if it wasn't the bonanza you were hoping for.

Yeah, but this is already true of all cards. Live diamonds/perfects wouldn't have any value on the market at all after the season ends. They'd go for 100pp eventually, lol. That's the point of having the quicksell and minimum price. The effective value of 95% of cards in the game, on a long-enough timeline, is zero.

I have managed to sell two combis so far.

And one of them I netted nearly 170K for.

So I can't complain.

In response to the new option to remove combinator status and sell them, I say it's not a good solution.

These cards are "priced" for thousands of PP. Now we can severely devalue them by removing combinator status and sell them for a fraction of the original price.

I sold four CCs only because I was tired of seeing them on my list. And to add to the number of CCs sold, as evidence that few people want them.
