I just watched a great, to me at least, YouTube vid by Twins_34 titled "How to Create a Fictional League with Historical Rookies". This is something I've been working on for almost 5 weeks setting up my 8 league association save. There was one thing in particular that caught my attention which was when he talked about the "Automatically import real historical rookies" option. I've seen it in the options section of the settings but assumed it wasn't something that would work for a multi league save so I quickly dismissed it without it's due consideration.
Have any of you ever tried something like this and, if so, how did it work for you? Would I be correct in assuming the game wouldn't debut the same player in multiple leagues and if that's the case, how would the game choose which league a historical player goes into? I've been spending a great deal of time creating a speadsheet of each of the 8 state leagues and then researching historical players from each of those states who were drafted in the inaugural year of the league(1964) and beyond so I would manually import them prior to the league draft pool being announced in each league. While I'm confident the game isn't going to make the state each player is from as the deciding factor for which league they are placed in, I am wondering if abandoning that plan and using this setting would save me a lot of time. https://youtu.be/rRkYvRIra0Q?si=rHpG1RnDpPueTEJ- |

Ok well, it seems only one of the leagues will get the historical rookies. I set them setting in both but only one of them got Bobby Bonds. However under the editor you can move them from league to league and team to team. Was pretty interesting that even though it was set in both, it only loads them in one. I even changed the draft reveal date in the 2nd league and tried to regenerate the file and nope. So only will lead it in the main, first created, league that I can see. That is quite interesting. Thank you for taking the time to test that. I'm guessing that's a scenario the devs didn't anticipate and considering what it takes to create the game I can understand that. The # of players playing a multi league association save with that option checked is probably pretty low. Back to my spreadsheet. |

Doing it with a shared draft should work as it's a single draft pool. The issue is when there are multiple leagues with seperate drafts the AI seems to not be able to disperse the historical players among each of those drafts. That's the issue in my save as I want each state league to draft mostly players from it's state and then after reaching FA the players are free to sign with any team in any of the leagues. |

Have you tried turning on Foreign player limits for the draft then turning them off for the FA period? In theory this would allow a shared draft and still force the teams to select players within it's own state as everyone else should be seen as a foreign player and not draftable, then when turned off the teams should be free to sign anyone. |

Interesting concept. I'll definitely consider that. Thanks OutS|der! Something that just occurred to me, how does the AI determine what state a player is from. Is it where their born or where they went to school? If it's where they went to school is it where they went to high school or collage? The database I've been building is based as closely as possible to where they grew up which, for me, is where they went to high school. Not a perfect way to do it but some players were born in a different state then where they grew up. Me, as an example, I was born at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO but spent almost my entire youth in Vallejo, CA. When asked where I'm from, Ive never said CO because I don't even remember the short time I lived there. I'm from Vallejo CA or just CA. Last edited by ZepTepi; 07-31-2024 at 09:47 PM. |

Think best bet might be to make two leages.. one historical and export the draft class, then import it into the new one, if that doesn't scrwe something else up i'm missing.
if dob or anything is a problem, you'll have to edit that -- easily done with a spreadsheet with the delimted txt file. or possibly copy paste player list portion over similarly exported list from target league, lol.. very important to have the same settings for the draft class size and number of rounds, i'd expect. Can't add new player ids, so you'd definitely need 2 exported files and selectively paste over all but the playerID column. importing to a spreadsheet is only way to do that easily... and if you aren't handy with on, just ignore me, lol. make a column for age to adjust dob, then copy/paste that back over too. 5minutes of work if you know how to use one..
