The "Trainer's Nightmare"
In all my years of playing OOTP, I have never seen a player more injury prone than this one. He's a good hitter but he cannot stay out of the trainer's room.
I avoid such players like the plague; he was mine as a rookie but I unloaded him accordingly. I have kept "in touch" with him, however, because I reap much satisfaction from not having to deal with his constant aches and pains. Note the following: * He has been injured six times this month ... and the month is not over. * The position of the scroll bar indicates that there is a page 2 to this saga. * Yet, he is only 26 years old! 26! * And yet again, fans love him! And he's a two-time all-star. Figure that out. * For these reasons, I have bestowed upon him the nickname that you see. I will post once more, some day, when his career is over and his medical journey is complete.

It reminds me of Pete Reiser of the Brooklyn Dodgers. He had great talent, but a penchant for running into OF walls. He was fearless, but not in a good way, in terms of his career. The injuries kept up, and his skills diminished as a result. A guy the fans loved for his hustle and daring. No idea if you guy is the reincarnation of Reiser.
Is there any pattern to the injuries? I can't see any, from the screenshot. He's all over the place - every part of the body. Some guys cannot seem to avoid muscle strains and sprains. Once those hamstrings get pulled or torn, it is going to take time for them to heal, and a lot of stretching before games to retain flexibility and prevent injury. But he is a basket case, from that history. I wonder if there is anything that could be "fixed" in the development lab. Or could the guy DH?

I had a similar situation, but with game crashes only while this player was pitching for me back in OOTP 19. I traded him away so that my game stopped crashing.

A more newsworthy headline would be "Phillies Joe 'Trainer's Nightmare' Drain NOT hurt!" Or, "Drain not a drain on his team for once!"

I mean, seriously. The guy is no sooner back from his shoulder inflammation than he breaks his hand. You would think that there would be a CEI somewhere along the line. Well, I will bore you no further with this fellow until his career is over, at which time I will post his complete injury history.

Well, it's over. Here is the entire sad story. I counted it twice; he had exactly 101 separate injuries during his 17 year career. And none of them were career-ending!

He was a darned good hitter with a career batting average of .302 and OPS+ of 132. But how much total time did he lose? For that, you need a spreadsheet.
See below. His year-by-year game appearances have been entered. I set an expected amount for each season at 150 games, generously allowing for 12 rest days. Also, I dispensed with the idea of not expecting full seasons in his first year and his last (rookie status and old age), considering that he batted .311 and .286 respectively. The guy missed the equivalent of 8.6 seasons, or exactly half of his career, due to injury! But rather than disdain anymore, I have encountered a measure of sympathy for him, perhaps even admiration. What a character. Accordingly, in his retirement he now sports a different nickname.

What's up with 2038? Did he actually play a full season?
