Mystery to me

How is it possible that this guy dropped from the 36th prospect to #426 after just 1 professional season?
In real life he just started the futures game and has been pitching very well for Spokane

Where do you see 426? Or was that a typo?

He has a 40 overall potential, he's lucky to be on that list, lol.

scouting accuracy is low for younger players and those with limited service time. A lot is revealed in the first year or 2 in your mil system.

be prepared to change the focus of your development. some people may be more highly rated than you expect from initial scouting, thought that is obviously a rarer context than the opposite.

Once you start simulating, real life is irrelevant. Is is the basis for the intiial ratings and nothing else. it's going to diverge. Even if it had the exact probabilities of real life coded into it somehow it'll be different over time.

Could be a TCR effect, could be he was overrated by your scout to start, could be the development system and simply a fact that not everyone develops to their early potential. ther's more than onen cause as to why a players seemingly falls off a cliff.

trust me when i say this... the game is much more forgiving than real life MLB player development. Expect more failure than success. Don't fight the things you can't control.
