College Player contract question

I have a question regarding signing prospects i've drafted. I had a player I drafted in the first round and after the draft I attempted to sign them but was unable to do so because they elected to go to college. I waited until the end of the season and when the signing period opened up I made another attempt to sign the player, this time they signed a 3 year entry level contract. I am now in my pre-season and I they are on my active roster, but I cannot dress them because they are redshirted?

Am I unable to sign a player who went the college route until they have left college? I am not quite sure why I was able to actually sign them to a 3 year contract if I can't use them at all. Is there a solution to this issue? I have searched around abit and could not find anything in the forums that speaks on this particular issue...Thanks in advance

Can you show me a screenshot? The red shirting should obviously not apply once the player has signed his ELC and is on the NHL roster so that could be a bug but it's not one I've encountered.

So it appears the issue is resolved....initially when it told me my player was redshirted, I had checked all the action menus trying to see if there was an option to remove it. After I posted my question here, I saved the game and closed it out.

I re-loaded the game and went back to my roster and oddly enough it now let me dress the player in question.

So I can't give you a screenshot showing the original error. I'll certainly post a shot for you if I encounter the scenario again.

Thanks for the response!

Ok...scratch that....It appeared to be fixed. After clicking the initially dressing the player is removed the player from the dressed roster when creating the lineup.I am attaching 2 screen shots. 1 is the players contract page and the second is the lineup page showing him in red for unavailable. The player is not injured for reference.

Okay, that's confusing - I can't think why that would be happening. What was indicating to you that he was redshirted? Does he only get removed from the dressed selection when you 'setup lines from Lineups'? Which is what I am assuming you are doing. Does he have any indication under the 'status' column on the roster tab? Also please can you include a screenshot of his Bio tab.

I am posting the 2 screenshots you requested. I moved the player to my AHL team and I decided to get creative. I am playing in commish mode and I went into the edit screen and set the college rights to "none" in that screen. The only rights right now are the NHL team rights and he is signed per the contract screen. It is still saying he is redshirted. I attempted to dress him for the AHL team and you can see it wouldn't allow it to happen I got the pop that he is redshirted. I have also added a copy of the bio page you requested.

Thanks for these, that definitely seems like a bug because it’s registering the signing of his ELC as a ‘transfer to Philadelphia’ etc as if he’s still collegiate. I would recommend making a post on the tech support section of the forums with this info (or just a brief description and then link to this post) and they can hopefully take a look.
