Some things I am pretty sure I get, but others I want to try to clarify...

One division of 6 teams. Play each of the five opponents in four different 5-game series (two of those home and the other two away).

I am pretty sure the game does not allow All-Star Game for a single-subleague single-division setup. I can configure the schedule with it and the break, but the game may not put it in. If you want at least the break, my inclination would be to put it after 75 games, though after 70 would be closer to the MLB proportion, and obviously after 60 would be at the true mid-point.

So that might be some offdays. What about offdays in general? At about the current MLB frequency (would be close to one every couple of series)?

You can always edit the start date, but do you have a start or end time to which you want to anchor? Like start first Monday of April, or end in late September, or anything like that?

Oops, I had my math wrong. For 120 total games and 5 opponents, that means 24 games per opponent (not the 20 I have above). Of course that 24 games will not work evenly with 5-game series. The 24 games does work nicely with 4-game series - can have 3 home and 3 away. So I would recommend that.

If the 5-game series is a critical thing, that could be padded out somehow with a pair of 2-game series (one home, one away) to get to the 120 games total and keep all the matchups even.

basically I am looking for a CPBL style schedule. 6 teams with 5 game series'... 120 games, season starts in Late March or early April...All-Star Break dividing the two season halves.

Looking at the 2024 CPBL schedule, it looks like generally there are 5 games per week. Monday seems almost always an offday. Rather than a single 5-game series against one opponent, it looks like usually an early-week 2-game series against one opponent and a weekend 3-game series against another opponent.

I went with the series Wed-Sun, with the exception as in the comments to open up a 3-day midseason break. Not sure if the All-Star game defined for that will actually occur - I know the game used to not allow an All-Star game for a setup of one subleague and an odd number of divisions, but I do not know if that is still so.

The games versus opponents cannot work out exactly with the combination of 120 games, 5 opponents, and all 5-game series. For each team one opponent is played 10H/10A, two 15H/10A, and two 10H/15A.

Code:

# 6 team schedule, 120 games
# Designed for the following configuration:
# 1 subleague with 1 division with 6 teams
#
#
# 20 games against 1 other team in division (10H/10A)
# 25 games against 3 other team in division (10-15H/10-15A)
#
# Schedule still labeled as balanced despite not perfectly even
#
#
# All 5-game series, played Wed-Sun, except at midway point of season
# In that case series pushed back one day to Thu-Mon
# Gap widened to allow for 3-day All-Star Break, though game may not occur with 1 division setup
#
#
# No homestands or roadtrips longer than 10 games (2 series)
#
# All game times set at 7:05pm
#
# Season begins first Wednesday on or after April 1
# Season ends first Sunday on or after September 13
# Season spans 166 days
#
# All-Star Game set at mid-season, first Tuesday on or after June 23 (day num 84)
# That may not work though for the one-division setup
