Rush has World Series to remember
Bob Rush just helped the Cincinnati Reds defeat the Kansas City Royals in the 2000 World Series in my current random debut league. Take a look at the two games Rush tossed in the World Series. 16 innings pitched, 2 hits and 0 runs allowed. Rush took a no-hitter into the 7 in game 1 of the series, before allowing a single to Joe Christopher. Rush would then take the mound in game 5 with the series tied at 2 games each. Rush was even better in game 5. This time he held the Royals hitless for 8.2 innings before Lou Blue hit a line drive single to left for the Royals only hit of the game. Rush also won his other two playoff appearances beating San Francisco in a complete game victory in the League Championship Series and Philadelphia in the Wildcard round. For the postseason, Rush 4-0 over 4 starts. He tossed 34 innings, allowing only 10 hits and gave up 0 runs. 3 complete game shutouts. Pretty darn amazing. Oddly enough, he did not take home World Series MVP honors as the award was given to his teammate, Alex Rodriguez.

That's a hell of an October run! Keep us up on the rest of his career

Kind of strange. The Royals and Reds have been in the last 2 World Series. The Royals won in 1999 and the Reds won in 2000. 2001 has both teams struggling. Both have spent time in their division cellar.

Ah one of those Random Debut coincidences, Bob Boone just won the 2003 Rookie of the Year award. Ray Boone is part of the 2004 draft class. Would be cool if they end up on the same team.

Finished up the 2004 season this morning. Nolan Ryan and Randy Johnson will be part of the upcoming amateur draft. I don't think I've ever had a young Randy Johnson in any of my leagues. Whenever I've had him he was part of the inaugural draft and already 30+.
The 2004 World Series was a fun one. Detroit beat Houston in 7 games. The cool thing was seeing Detroit's Mike Scott matchup against Houston's JR Richard twice during the series. The first matchup was a classic pitchers duel with Scott getting the win for the Tigers. The second went the opposite direction, with both pitchers getting lit up early, leaving the bullpens to decide things. |

This one really hurts. Was really looking forward to seeing how many home runs he could hit over the next 10 or more years. So sad.

Have to love Random Debut coincidences. Last year the Twins were able to nab Nolan Ryan in the first round of the amateur draft. This year they draft Frank Tanana. Love it.

I thought you turned off long term injuries??? Or maybe you were just thinking about it.

This random has both low and high injuries set to High, Modern Day. Injuries suck, but so much better than looking at every player playing the same amount of games every year and none of the fringe guys ever getting to play. Even with injuries, I still use the high fatigue setting. |

When playing random debut, can you edit a player's birthdate to make him a younger version of himself? If so, will the sim change his ratings to reflect his younger self?

I'm finally far enough in to see my leagues very first Hall of Fame inductee. Hank Aaron has missed out on his first 2 chances, but Sherry Magee got in on very first time on the ballot.

Hod Eller becomes the first pitcher in my league to reach 250 wins.
