Not enough money to build roster? AHL

Good morning! Still quite new to the game and I'm trying to figure something out. I just signed a contract with an AHL team and I'm trying to round out the roster to build a complete lineup. However, I don't have enough money to sign any FAs and I have almost no players on the team so I can't setup a full lineup. Wondering if there's something I'm missing? Thank you!

I've had this issue too. For me it always fixes itself after the first season, but that first season can really suck and it's hard to build a good developmental system when you can't even fill out a roster. I can't even make an ECHL call up to solve the problem if they aren't already under contract.



In future versions, I'd love for players to be easier to get on loan from other leagues in this case, or be allowed to make an "emergency" ECHL call up. IRL, I have to imagine if an NHL team saw that I didn't have a full roster they'd be more likely to offer me a guy on loan to play in my top 2 lines than to keep him in their system on the 4th line for example.
