25 vs 24

I have OOTP 24 is the upgrade to OOTP 25 worth the upgrade.

Depends on how you play, what features you like, is the price an important issue??

I play historical (random) and I think the improvements that are important to me make it worth it. Ratings improved, more emphasis on defensive ratings, improved animations, etc..

Some of the changes (like to ratings) will require a brief learning curve to adapt. Those who are set in their ways may be uncomfortable. Old dog, new tricks.

But for many of the more subtle tweaks, you have to play a lot of games, or build organizations, to truly appreciate. In other words, the "casual" user might not really see a difference between 24 and 25. Of course, I seriously doubt that anyone posting here would qualify as a casual user. For somebody who plays, basically, every day, the investment is worth it.

Usual caveat that your sims will translate cleaner if you import from 24 to 25 in the off-season. For a guy like me who plods along, playing out games in multiples season, that can be hard to achieve. I still have to get to that point in a few of my 24 sims. And yes, I can tell t he difference between playing in 24 and 25.

At 50% off right now I'd say this is the best time to do it. The only time it will be cheaper is when OOTP26 comes out.

From personal observation, no data to back this up...

Trade AI seems way improved. I just won a World Series mostly off of a roster I had built off of trades from 24, but now I am having a much trickier time trying to assembly an equally good roster.

AI Roster logic seems better as evidenced in Rule 5 drafts having less MLB-ready talent.

Those 2 improvements make it hard for me to imagine going back to 24. There have been criticisms of the proportions of player development from various sources (scouting finds overpowered compared to draft? maybe?) but I haven't seen strong data to support it (maybe it's out there).

Another criticism is a relatively predictable development curve for players. I have personally found there to be plenty of variance between seasons to make it unpredictable enough.

Just my 2 cents as a newish OOTP player but long-time FOF / TEW / Cities: Skylines player.
