More to the point, I'd like to see the Oil Scum taken out to the Everglades on a leaky boat. First Draisaitl leaves his feet to land a flying elbow-smash on Barkov's jaw, and then Sam Carrick (who?) deliberately uses his stick to uppercut Kulikov's little kulikovs, IYKIM. (And then smashes his stick into Lorentz's face when Lorentz objects.)

How the two of them aren't suspended for the rest of the series, I have no idea. (Aside from how the NHL office is sacrificing goats hourly to try and have a Canadian team hoist the Cup, that is.)



I watched WWE Monday Night Raw along with the game and didn't see anything that dirty. (R-Truth tried to smash Akam in the face with the Tag-Team belt, but it didn't work.) At least the WWE gives the heels cool entrance videos and theme songs.

(Edit: Miz and R-Truth were actually faces, but sometimes a face's gotta do what a heel always does…)

Happened in 2013 - Bruins/Blackhawks played 2 summer games - 22nd and 24th June.

I think I've figured out the one thing I don't like about the NHL playoffs. The goalie is too important. The skaters don't really matter if the goalie way better or worse. Florida looks like an entirely different franchise w/Bobrovsky's play.

You must have watched a different game than I did. The Florida skaters were doing a better job of putting pucks on Edmonton sticks than they were on net. None of the goals Bob allowed were softies. They can't move the puck (as Paul Maurice kept saying) and the breakaway happened because Sam Bennett was too busy dreaming about the time he sucker-punched Marchand to get back on defense.

It's a disaster (the only thing I want less than to see these dirty scum win a Cup is to see McDickless [remember, he only tries mug Mikey Anderson in Canada; he's too scared to get dirty in LA] lionized as "The Man Who Brought OUR Cup Home"), but IMO Bob is the least culpable man with a cat on his chest out there.

In other news, the Arizona State Land Department has canceled the auction that Alex Meruelo was counting on to get the parcel he needs to build his new arena because Meruelo doesn't have the special-use zoning permit he would need to begin construction.

This is clearly a bull**** excuse, since what the **** does the ASLD care about what Meruelo can do with the land after he buys it? It's in the best interest of the people of Arizona that the land be sold at a good price; if Alex can't get the permit (no reason he shouldn't be able to) and gets stuck with land he can't develop, so what? That's Meruelo's problem, not the state's.

Clearly, a little birdie from Toronto whispered in the ASLD's ear and told them to **** Meruelo over. It's a garbage move by Bettman. I don't have much of a (Desert) Dog in this fight, but if I was a 30+ years 'Yotes fan who's been trying to get these issues solved so I can have SOME sort of a hockey team, fairly soon, I'd be ****ing furious.

Get your thumb off the damn scales, Bettman! No wonder you get booed in every arena in the league. They'll boo you in Utah, too.

Bobrovsky wasn't the reason for the game 6 loss. But he wasn't Superman like he has been the majority of the playoffs. And if he isn't, like he hasn't the last 3, Florida doesn't look like the juggernaut they resembled in the earlier rounds. The goalie struggling shouldn't lead to the skaters struggling.

Really happy for Barkov and Bobrovsky, and only a bit concerned that they got screwed out of the Conn Smythe because of anti-Russian bias. But I'll just pretend they split the votes and let McChoker grab the silverware.

That was a really great game seven. Very intense. I was a bit behind on dvr and normally when I watch games (or races, whatever) on dvr I skip past the pregame chatter, pomp & circ, and anthem(s). But I wanted to hear a snippet of what Alanis Morrisette sounded like, so I was going to listen to the first bit of O Canada. I ended up watching both full anthems because the crowd was just so into both of them, and it seems that Alanis was really feeding off of the energy. I thought that was really cool!

And then the game was great! Seems like the whole 3rd period the Panthers were on their heels, taking blow after blow, and unable to mount any counter-offensive. But Bob wouldn't give in... I generally root against the Oilers because their recent habit of drubbing my Kings makes then pretty annoying, but while I wanted Florida to win, I would not have been disappointed to see that game go to OT...

At any rate, through the first four games the SC finals mirrored the NBA finals. But the rest of the series? Not so much

PLD was traded a week ago to Washington for Darcy Kuemper.
