Back then a computer opponent was a limited number of IF->THEN choices and usually wasn't even capable of randomizing the choices. The fact that we now have huge games that won't even fit compressed on a DVD shows extent of the opportunity for a better computer opponent, perhaps one that even approaches being a contender to be called AI. However so much of the extra code in games has gone to graphics and gimmicks, not to improving the computer opponent.

However the gaming industry's misnamed AIs perform better than Tesla's Self Driving. At least when game programs crash there is no physical damage.
Isn't the essence of decision making, whether by AI or organic intelligence, fundamentally about "if this, then do that," known as conditional logic, even though modern AI often involves more complex techniques?

"Real AI"? Is that like jumbo shrimp? Old news? Live recording? Open secret? Passive aggressive? Working vacation? Virtual reality?

Clearly what we've been calling AI for decades really isn't.

What we call AI now really isn’t the AI we expect to see from sci fi movies.

There are levels and right now we are in the early stages of AI which is machine learning.

I’ve seen it when I try to change the model of a stadium of a game that’s already in process.
