Turns out the midnight blues also make for an excellent contrast of the baseball against the Tigers pitcher.

Skubal up next against the buckos so hopefully they can keep the win streak going despite his ERA BALLOONING to 2.25

Skubal notches number 7 and the Tigers are back to .500. Bummer to see Carpenter on the 10 day but happy to see Baddoo get the call-up.
Debut start for Keider Montero in game two - hope the offense stays on track

If the Sox can't get to Maeda tonight like the rest of the league does, it could be a long weekend in Beantown

Good News: Javey has an "injury" and has been placed on the IL.
Bad News: They have called up Javey's mini-me to fill the roster spot. "The Tigers recalled shortstop Ryan Kreidler from Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move. Kreidler, 26, is hitting .160 with one homer and five RBIs in nine games for the Mud Hens." Why not give Jace Jung a look for the 10-day IL stint? Put him at third and let McKinstry play SS. Couldn't be worse.

To be fair, 9 games isn't much of a sample size. Albeit if you struggle at Toledo, bumping up another level may be rushing things.

He's also hit a buck 65 in 37 MLB games. I anticipate Javy-like production :-)

I hope Rob Numbfred isn't watching the Tigers broadcast while Jason Benetti is musing "how many errors people would make if they had to play the outfield while holding a chair" to get the offense up...

This Olsen kid pitches his heart out and gets absolutely no support.

A rare off day for Skubal keeps the misery index high. I need to see a sweep against the White Sox or I'll need to check out entirely for a few weeks and focus on the T20 World Cup. USA has two games left to work some magic after the loss to SA.

My son, daughter's boyfriend and my friend went to the Canada - Ireland World Cup match a week back at Eisenhower Park. Absolutely great time

... and now, USA has been discharged from the T20 world cup. My summer sports misery index is at a 9.5

Predictions on who is getting dealt by or at the deadline:
Skubal? Flaherty? Greene? Anyone else? Personally, I would deal both Skubal and Flaherty as this team doesn’t have the everyday positional players to support elite arms like Skubal but my worry is that Scott Harris is in over his head when it comes to trades. He has been good at finding players and having his coaches develop them into trading pieces (all hail Chris Fetter, he is amazing) but after what he didn’t/couldn’t/wouldn’t do at the last deadline I’m very concerned. I hope he proves me wrong here, but if he blows this deadline the club is in trouble because it takes a lot to get fired in this town. |

Skubal is what you try and build around. Flaherty can be used to fetch new blood. JMO.

Trading Skubal and Greene (or Olsen for that matter) means that the rebuilding will be another 5 years or worse. Some combination of Mize, Flaherty, foley, and chaffin should bring back a good threat bat or two close prospects.
