Welcome!
Hockey Tactics in general are one of the more difficult aspects to understand in the game in my experience. I came to this game from a Football Manager background too and I had no knowledge of Hockey at all before picking this game up, so I sort of learnt the sport through this game to start off with. As far as a meta goes, it's not really like that - which is good because it's more about finding tactics that help your strong players to excel. At least that's how I've found it to be. I would say, as a new player, you can always allow your AI assistant to run tactics. This option is available from the 'Manager' -> 'Options' drop down then on the right hand side you will see options to allow the assistant to control various aspects of your organisation. However, if you do want to proceed with setting your tactics yourself then I would advise just to start with the global tactics screen as shown in the screenshot below. You'll see the tendency sliders and then beneath that the tactical choices for each situation in the game where you can select several different options. In my opinion a good method to start off is to look at your roster and evaluate who are the best players? Who is the best offensive player who is likely to win me games and score lots of goals? Okay, once those things have been identified then you want to remember their name and try and set your tactics so that particular player appears in the "Great Fit" or "Good Fit" feedback section for each tactic. There is also this fantastic document that was created as an adaption from a post on the FHM6 forum - this tries to help explain the broad concepts of the tactical choices and settings in FHM in general - it helped me to better understand hockey tactic concepts that were in the game (I also read the book 'Take your eyes off the puck' which was fantastic too). The post can be found here - https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...hlight=tactics However the document itself is here - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...ELPhV3jac/edit That could really do with a sticky because it continually gets buried. In terms of getting offers for your players, what league are you playing in? I'm not familiar with the European leagues so can only comment on the NHL. You can right click and list your players on the trade block to generate AI offers but more often than not they will not be good offers - I tend to initiate manual trades with teams that have a need in the position of the player I am trying to move and work that way. It's a trial and error thing. Hopefully some of that helps - feel free to ask questions here, discord or reddit plenty of experienced players who give good advice on all of those! |
