Here's a thought;

Instead of throwing half your roster at the wall to see if something sticks, why not improve Combinators by giving us the choice to throw duplicates at them. Instead of the WIn or Lose result, why not let all the duplicates we can throw at it accumulate until there's an upgrade. That way we have a choice to (1)sell - (2)keep - or (3) invest duplicates in Combinator upgrades.

(I know, dumb idea, LOL, I'm desperate to find a use for these cards)

I think combinators are great...for people who have the wherewithal to buy a zillion cheap cards to throw into the wood chipper to upgrade them.

Since I'm not one of those people (but I keep running into them in tournaments), my full opinion on them is best left unspoken...because it certainly isn't printable.

Combinator Cards

I had card to upgrade (first one I did) and got lazy on the first upgrade and tried it at a little over 98% and it failed to combinate. Then on next upgrade only put in 4% and it passed. From a probability perspective those 2 events seem very unlikely back to back. I guess I should have played the lottery that day.

That is just the kind of thinking that keeps people flushing billions of dollars down the lottery toilet. That and astrology and numerology.

I feel that the combinator card is not a good thing for OOTP I have combinators. cards that I ill never boost because I do not have the money to. cost them and fail o I feel it is very unfair to the teams that do not boost their combiners,I play in several tourneys and I never win I usually get beat by a team of combinators it is unlike REAL baseball, it has no place in te game it tilts the playing field for teams that do not have combinators and the game is not fun anymore I feel like I wasted my money on OOTP this year. I really love baseball and Perfect team made it even better but that as changed the year

Combinators are terrible for FTP players, but we are, of course, of no help to the business side of OOTP. Markus and company know that we're likely to buy OOTP every year regardless, and that's the last dollar they get out of us unless we can somehow be convinced to open up the wallet and purchase some Perfect Points. So...

They keep trying with things like Combinators. These cards do several things for OOTP. First, they destroy cards that will eventually show up in a mission, necessitating a re-purchase of the card that was sacrificed to the Combi gods. Second, they keep the prices of historical Irons and Bronzes artificially high due to purchases for upgrades to the Combinators. Third, they freeze us out of tournaments and make the acquisition of free packs that much more difficult. All three of these make FTP more of an ultimately-losing grind and encourage that wallet-opening.

It's smart business on their part...if they can convince a percentage of FTP players to part with some additional cash and if they can keep the rest of us on board to provide whale fodder.

That is the $64,000 question.

That is the question. I quit last year around November...looking like June this year. Aside from being stupid imo, the combinators are making this much more David vs. Goliath. I've already given up on tournaments as it is just about impossible without them. The gap will really get wider with the regular teams as well. There will soon be no chance for a FtP player to get to Perfect. I don't think has been the case in previous years.

I'm headed back to base game and will hope for improvements in March.
