Fantasy Redraft Dynasty Part 1: Introduction
I'm starting a historical save in OOTP with a redraft. Players from every era of baseball will randomly become available. The save starts in 2000 with no major league history, and random players and eligible for the inaugural draft.
I am the GM and manager for the Astros, and I'm planning on building a dynasty in the next several seasons. Just fyi, I think I'm gonna make a post like this after each month of the season, and then one or two for the offseason. Leaguewide settings are generally set to what they were in 2000 in actuality, including finances. I have historical evolution on, so settings and rules will adjust year-by-year as they did in real life. Now, let's get into the draft. I'll go through each pick and give a little information about them and their careers. The overall and potential ratings are from a few months after the draft, once I have hired by own scout. (1,10) 25 y.o. SP Kevin Appier (80 OVR, 80 POT) - former ace best known for his time with the Royals, 121 career ERA+ over 402 starts, CY finalist and MVP vote-getter in 1993 (2,21) 23 y.o. CF Johnny Briggs (60 OVR, 70 POT) - Phillies and Brewers long-time starter, career .355 OBP and 121 OPS+, 1041 hits and 139 homers, MVP vote-getter in 1973 (3,10) 21 y.o. SP Doc White (80 OVR, 80 POT) - Dead Ball Era ace with 2.39 ERA and 2.51 FIP over 3000 career innings, 1906 ERA title (1.52) and 0.906 WHIP (4,21) 22 y.o. 1B Justin Morneau (50 OVR, 65 POT) - Twins legend, 349 doubles and 247 homers with 120 OPS+ over injury-shortened career, 2005 AL MVP, 2-time Silver Slugger, 4-time MVP vote-getter, 4-time All-Star (5,10) 18 y.o. SP John Weyhing (60 OVR, 75 POT) - only made 9 career appearances with a 1.62 ERA in the 1800s, I have no idea why he's this good in-game (6,21) 23 y.o. 3B Merv Connors (45 OVR, 60 POT) - only played 52 career games in the 1930s with a 111 OPS+ (7,10) 23 y.o. SS Rick Renick (45 OVR, 50 POT) - played 276 games with the Twins in 1960s and 70s (8,21) 27 y.o. C Jake Rogers (45 OVR, 45 OVR) - 27 homers and 102 OPS+ for Tigers in 145 games with Tigers from 2021 to 2023 (9,10) 20 y.o. RP Garland Braxton (45 OVR, 60 POT) - 938 innings with 3.48 FIP from 1921 to 1933, 1928 ERA title (2.51) (10,21) 27 y.o. RP Dan Morogiello (60 OVR, 60 POT) - 2.39 ERA in 37 innings for 1983 Orioles (11,10) 21 y.o. RF Billy Lush (45 OVR, 70 POT) - 84 steals and 107 OPS+ in 489 games from 1895 to 1904 (12,21) 21 y.o. C Francisco Alvarez (40 OVR, 45 POT) - 27 homers and 1.2 bWAR in first 144 games from 2022 to 2024, former top prospect (13,10) 22 y.o. 2B Rougned Odor (45 OVR, 45 POT) - best known as a Ranger, 186 doubles and 178 homers over 10-year career (14,21) 24 y.o. LF Johnny Jeter (45 OVR, 50 POT) - 336 games as backup outfielder for 4 teams in 60s and 70s (15,10) 30 y.o. RP Alex Wilson (45 OVR, 45 POT) - 3.44 career ERA across 2010s, 3 sub-3.00 ERA seasons as setup man (16,21) 22 y.o. SP Mackenzie Gore (40 OVR, 45 POT) - former highly-touted prospect, 98 career ERA+ through age-25 season, 9.9 career K/9 (17,10) 24 y.o. RP Jose Cecena (35 OVR, 50 POT) - 22 appearances and 7 games finished for 1988 Rangers (18,21) 20 y.o. 3B Bill Barrett (35 OVR, 45 POT) - 690 hits and career 97 OPS+ in 1920s (19,10) 18 y.o. SP Ed Eiteljorge (40 OVR, 45 POT) - 63 innings in 1890s (20,21) 20 y.o. RP Conrad Cardinal (45 OVR, 50 POT) - 13 innings in 1963 For the rest of the draft, I'm just gonna say their age, position and overall. (21,10) 21 y.o. RP Emiliano Fruto (45 OVR, 45 POT) (22,21) 24 y.o. SP David Buchanan (45 OVR, 45 POT) (23,10) 23 y.o. LF Tom Catterson (40 OVR, 40 POT) (24,21) 19 y.o. RP Dale Matthewson (40 OVR, 45 POT) (25,10) 21 y.o. 3B Charlie Harris (35 OVR, 40 POT) (26,21) 19 y.o. LF John Wojcik (45 OVR, 55 POT) (27,10) 24 y.o. 2B Jay Partridge (40 OVR, 45 POT) (28,21) 20 y.o. 3B Thomas Healy (40 OVR, 40 POT) (29, 10) 22 y.o. SP/DH Roy Golden (40 OVR, 45 POT) (30,21) 20 y.o. CF Fred Bailey (40 OVR, 50 POT) This draft was 40 rounds, but it's not even worth showing the last 10. They were all autodrafted. I'm really excited to get into this first season! I'll be managing everything along the way and watching every game. Please let me know if this is at all interesting to you, and I'll keep it going! |

We've won 8 of our last 10 games. Some of our best players are doing uncharacteristically bad, so I'm expecting them to improve. |

This is awesome, I have been wondering how I can do a draft with players from different era's. If you can point me in the right direction, that would be greatly appreciated.

Choose historical save, then there's an option somewhere that says something like "import random rookies from historical eras". You can set different limits for the times that players are imported from (get rid of 1800s or whatever you want).
