3D Camera Angles

This post is what got me hooked on OOTP. The camera angles in this ballpark were absolutely incredible back in the days of OOTP 21.

I've worked to bring them to OOTP 25.

Now, not all of the camera angles translate well. I've had to get rid of a few. I also decided to get rid of a lot of the close up views, since the game engine tends to focus in on really strange things.

However, I've been quite satisfied with what we've got here.

Here is a link to a ballpark with the camera angles. In theory you can use "copy cameras to all ballparks" to copy them everywhere. That doesn't work for me, though I think it's because I'm on Linux using Proton. I've had to delete all camera angles in each ballpark and then use "copy cameras from ballpark" to copy these over.

You'll want to look over the camera angles before using them, too. Get rid of any that are obstructed.

Some of the angles I removed did really strange things in OOTP 25. One was upside down, which made for some pretty hilarious replays.

If you're interested in seeing more first, I made a video showing them off here.

I've also had a few people ask me about what my camera settings are. I use the following:

Follow Ball - Yes

Dynamic Zoom - Enabled

Camera Movement Delay - 0.50 s

Camera Transition Time - 0.50 s

Camera Movement Speed - 50

Zoom Factor - 20

3D Animation Speed - Slightly Fast (I've found that faster settings tend to make the cameras really jittery)

I've got everything animation related set to max — but, then again, I'm using a 7950X3D and a 7900XTX. You might need to adjust for computers with less juice.

Anyway, I hope this helps! I find it a lot more enjoyable when the cameras are a bit further back and when I've got a broader view of the action.

Great set-up!

The timing of the cameras, you nailed them.

(My dynamic zoom seemed to vary between stadiums – whereas I'd see everything in Riverfront, I'd lose sight of homers at Atlanta-Fulton County. Eventually decided to disable it.)
