2024 WNBA Thread
Caitlin Clark is getting owned in her debut in the first half...2 points, 1 assist, 1 steal, 2 fouls in 15 or so minutes.

Player Who Dominated in College Has Somewhat Ordinary Performance Against Higher-Caliber Players in Her Pro Debut. Since that obviously has never happened before, the Fever should probably cut her now... I mean, Larry Bird only scored 14 points in his pro debut. It's a wonder the Celtics didn't cut bait then, saving themselves 13 years of his ordinary performances...

With that the first post in the WNBA's 2024 season thread is from someone that wants the player that is selling out arenas, getting the games on tv, and the most exposure the league has ever had, to fail. I wonder why?

I don't think anyone would say this was a stellar debut. Room to grow? Sure. But no reason to sugar coat anything.

No reason to sugar-coat anything, nor do I see anyone here trying to do so. At any rate, her less-than-stellar debut puts in her in the same class as some guys named Bird, Jordan, West, Duncan, Shaq, Luca, Embiid, Durant, Trae, Gervin, KahMalone, D Mitchell, R Barry, Steph, Dantley, Pistol...

We enjoyed watching the game here in Connecticut (go Suns!). Small men like you will be soon forgotten.

CT was laser-focused on her and she picked up two quick ticky tacks early that put her on the bench for a lot longer than I am sure IND wanted. 20 points was a pretty impressive showing against one of the best squads in the league.

Nobody said she played great, including Clark herself. Leaving a player that scored 20 while having a "meh" game.

You're saying the defense backed off in the later stages of the game giving her room? I must have watched a different game than you.

Clark's second game was no better. Nine points on 2/8 shooting.

I can't believe that this is even a conversation. She's played how many games?

Wasn't the same conversation held after the Spurs played their first couple games this year? Guessing the same conversation will play out the minute the Chicago Bears play their first game of the season.
