Smile Creating myself in a Historical league game

Hi, I'm new to this game and I want to create a fictional player based on myself in a Historical league game and see how he performs.

So what would be the best way to do it?

Is it possible to do this on a replay mode setting? Or do I have to play on a career or random debut mode?

In Replay Mode, the default is historical transactions and line-ups. I'd use default mode for dropping yourself in baseball history. On Game Settings be sure to go to Players' tab and ensure Development is toggled on (not disabled). Also be sure to toggle Commissioner Mode on. Then on the Free Agent screen list, on the far-righthand side there is a drop down to add a fictional player. You will be able to select characteristics of that imported player. Once you get one to your satisfaction, delete the others and open that player's editor page. Change the name (for the name be sure to hit enter after you changed the text). Then edit any other attributes as appropriate. I wish you well in bigs...

Hey, thanks for the reply!

So, I won't be able to play in the Majors in Replay Mode, unless I set my team on Commissioner mode?

And one last question, what do I have to do if I want my player to get drafted?

Replay mode has pretty strict defaults. Default mode is best for dropping yourself in a past year. If dropping yourself in present day, use the Standard MLB 2024 game starting point. Still need to add yourself but there are no “modes” in current year play.

You’ll need Commissioner mode just to create yourself and do the necessary edits. Nothing wrong with Commish mode. Game tweaking - edits and modifications like this included. .

The create fictional player options I referenced should have one for young amateurs. Choose that and it should make the-soon-to-be-you draft eligible. If you don’t see yourself in the draft pool when it gets announced, there is surely a toggle in the player editor to get yourself there.

You want to do this in Career Mode. Career mode is pretty much your historical fictional type league setup. It uses the OOTP dev engine, players can end up on any team, players progress by the dev engine, you can use the new dev lab, and when you make yourself in the game, you can set yourself to be in the next MLB draft.

It depends on what the OP wants the historical players to do. In a Default Mode game with the development NOT disabled (development on), historical players will hue very closely to what they did in real life while his fictional self will develop per the development engine. If he does Career Mode, every single player in the sim, historical players included, will be subject to the engine and those players he is playing beside may or may not develop as they did in history.

The development lab is available in both modes (or not, if so chosen).

Just depends on what he wants to do. Good luck, ningenshikkaku92

Thanks for the detailed explanation! I really appreciate it!

Are you an Orioles fan? If so, I wish the O's a great season this year!!

P.S.

I'm using your mod on Steam. It's a nice mod and thanks for the hard work that you put in!

Thanks for the kind words. AESP_Pres and I have worked hard to revamp that pack over the past three years. I'm a diehard Red Sox fan but am thrilled for my neighbors that the O's are doing well. It's a good baseball town here in Charm City. They deserve to have a run of greatness imo.

In either case, whether you want the historical player paths of your soon-to-be-teammates and opponents to follow their preordained path (and be sure to ensure development is toggled on in Game Settings>Players) in Default Mode or want them to just be dudes with potentials for the hand of fate (the development engine) to do with them as it will to your (presumably) high-potential self in Career Mode, is up to you.

Here's how I do it. I got to the free agent list and create a new fictional player for the position I want to play. American, legendary (of course), and fully developed, age 14-16.

Then I change the name, hometown and birthdate and wait for the contract offers to roll in.

Exactly like it would have happened in real life if I hadn't discovered comic books or something. I can't believe I missed my shot at the HOF.
