Catcher Throwing Invisible Ball

With the latest patch installed whenever there's a steal from first to second the ball thrown by the catcher is invisible. You cannot see the ball traveling from to catcher's arm to 2nd. This was not happening with the previous patch. I'm also not seeing the ball thrown back to the pitcher from the catcher after pitches. I think this is after walks and strikeouts.

Thanks!

I have this issue too, just tried changing various settings and that hasn't helped yet. Markus said he's having trouble reproducing this on the bug forum earlier today though.

We'll fix this up for the next update. It seems to have snuck in while fixing up some other animation pieces.

Just out of curiousity, did you guys all have the BETA of this patch installed and this issue snuck in between the BETA and the actual release?

I only ask because normally when the BETA version performs how it should, the devs will say if you're already using the BETA there's no need to update to the official patch release... In this case though, it would seem that there was some obvious tinkering done in between the beta and the actual patch release.

It's not just the catchers who are encountering this, but the outfielders too. I've noticed that it occurs when they catch the ball and make a throw to the infield.

Yes, can we please get this fixed right away. Infielders throwing around an invisible ball is ridiculous. We shouldn't have to wait until the next patch. Clearly an error on the OOTP team that needs to be corrected ASAP.

Is tweaking in between the beta patch release and the official patch release a normal thing?

Almost seems like if tweaking is done between the beta and the official that beta 1.0 should turn into beta 1.1 as opposed to the official patch.

I installed the latest beta but waited on installing the public patch. I’m glad I didn’t install it.

1. When will the next patch that addresses this issue be released?
2. Can this get resolved soon?

Forgive me asking a dumb question, but to fix this problem can you roll back to the Beta version of this patch by redownloading and reinstalling the Beta the exact same way you'd normally install the new patch?

I'm still a little confused with the idea that tweaks get made in between the Beta release and the official release. That kind of completely defeats the purpose of testing the Beta if it's going to get tweaked after the fact (like I said in an earlier post, when that is the case a new Beta, 1.1 or whatever, should get released)

I didn't download the "official" patch so I'm not having the issue, thankfully. But for those that are having the issue, can you reinstall the Beta version or is that not possible? (and I'm not trying to crash anyone's saves in making a potentially idiotic suggestion, so please wait for someone smarter than me to verify if this would work before doing anything haha)

You could use the 24.4.63 version to avoid this issue if you want and are on the standalone version. We did release 24.4.64 as a public beta for a day before it was released fully. Due to some other issues, once you have updated to 24.4.63 or 24.4.64 you cannot open the save again on earlier versions, but those 2 within each other are compatible.

The next patch doesn't have a date yet, but hopefully within a couple weeks we'll be ready. We may end up with an earlier update, we'll decide internally next week on timelines.

Please do correct this as soon as possible. It's not just the catcher throwing the ball back to the pitcher, it is everything related to the catcher, whether it's a pass ball, wild pitch, whatever, there is no ball - it is ruining the entire experience. Even after the catcher throws the ball to an infielder and then when the infielders are throwing the ball around the infield after an out, there is no ball.

I think I can speak for most everyone having the hidden-ball issue that "a couple weeks" most definitely does not work.

Another issue related to the missing ball issue is that catchers no longer seem to try to block wild pitches and passed balls. Before there was an animation where the catcher would try to block those pitches, now they just run after it straight from the crouch.

Haven't seen the problem myself as I haven't updated to the newest patch release, but if the actual baseball is legitimately missing from the game and the fix for that is seriously a couple weeks off......... Mannnnnn. I mean, a baseball game without a baseball?

Not to stir the pot but if that fix is weeks off - you're going to have some furious long time customers.

You gotta fix that.... like, yesterday.

I didn't expect, quite honestly, that this thing would be deemed such a low priority and, as such, be put on a back burner for couple weeks. Feels irresponsible. Also gives an impression that bug could've been known, but for whatever reason the decision was made to go ahead with public patch. Weird.

This might work better if you are playing NEL rosters where they often played shadow ball for the fans.
