I'm interested to see if CC's will be discussed in TWIPT today. I hope so.

Your first mistake is spending tons of real money on a game that has zero tangible rewards other than having fun. Not sure how you can be mad at them for it.

The guy has a valid point. You can't know if a card is useful to you unless it is in your inventory forcing you to buy cards you may not need. That has nothing to do with whether you spend money or not.

Someone on a stream put up a link to this site https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/visuals/teammates

It shows who would be good for combinators. Very handy, though I don't think I'll be needing it.

^Timely and very helpful. I JUST pulled my first Combinator - a historical named Frenchy Bordagaray. Somehow, I possess zero cards that combine with him. Kinda useless, huh? And the game has no built-in mechanic to help me find them. At least with this tool, I can peek around a bit now.

Great, hardly any of the closely linked players are in the game. The most available cards contribute ~15 points out of the 1,944 points required to guarantee a boost. This is going to be a lot of work to boost a 62 card.

After some work, I've gotten to a point where I could select all and have a 50/50 chance to boost. My question is, how do the "levels" work? Is each boost ATTEMPT a level or do you have infinite attempts for a maximum of 5 successes?

Ok, I’m making progress toward my first boost attempt. One thing isn’t clear. Does every boost attempt use up a “level” or do you have infinite attempts for a maximum of 5 successes? The latter seems more sensible.

If so, we can dabble with an optimization formula.

A point seems to cost about 2 PP

290 pts = 25.48% ~ 600 PP
382 pts = 33.56% ~ 800 PP
686 pts = 50.15% ~ 1400 PP
897 pts = 57.76% ~1800

I don’t have enough cards to test beyond 57.76%.

Under the first condition, that’s four rolls for an expected success at 2400 PP. Under the second condition, three rolls again at 2400 PP. Under the third condition, only two rolls but at a higher cost of 2800 PP. The first and second 17% cost 400 PP apiece. The next 17% costs 600 PP. The next *7%* costs another 400. Ergo, less certainty and more rolls is expected to be cheaper. That's assuming "level" and "attempt boost" are not the same thing.

Infinite attempts for a max of 5 successes, yes.

Update: I can attempt boost with single cards. But when I try to get to 100% I still get error message

Okay, this is not good gameplay trying to buy iron CC's. Call me crazy, but I don't want to spend the next few months tending buy orders for cards that refuse to exist. If only I could choose which card I want to upgrade with my own pulls...

FYI

On a combinator player profile screen, on the upper right side of that screen you will see seven stars (regular card, level 0, etc.). If you hover over each star, it will show you what that combinator card can max out.

In that image my combinator card Mondesi is at level one and the level one star is boxed. Hovering over other stars will show their max at each level up.

Be aware that if you have the regular card on your active roster and send him to reserve to bring up the combinator of that card BOTH stay on reserve for 14 days. So, they are treating both cards as the same there but the history and training does not carry over.

Combinator, is perhaps fun, but turns Tournaments (previously level playing field) into pay to win.

So live cards do not count towards upgrades?

I noticed it uses most of the "Snapshot" cards as a combinator. I have held onto even the crappy low snapshot cards just in case a mission pops up where they are used. I just don't know what to do with them. i wish there was a quicksell option for these.

The 3 cards for sale are:
SP Dick Stigman 1962 Twins rated 60 - 10,001 sale amount
RF Kevin Kiermaier 2014 Rays rated 76 - 15,001 sale amount
2B Ken Aspromonte 1960 Indians rated 79 - 15,001 sale amount
Wow...what a freaking scam the combinator cards are. I decided to boost my Lave Cross diamond card with the other 3 CCs and a bunch of others. It had a 50% chance of boost. I didn't want to risk losing all the snapshot cards in case of other missions. The boost failed and I lost all the cards I had checked. What a ripoff! Never doing that again. It is only worth it if you keep all your duplicates for the process.

I have boosted one Combinator Card now to level 3. It never occurred to me to attempt a boost with anything less than 100% chance.

I was not careful on first boost. I just wanted to do it without regard to the cards I was giving up. So that one cost me. The second and third boost only took 39 and 41 cards respectively and only 5 gold cards total worth less than 10k. Actively buy up the iron, bronze and silver that yield the most points. Much cheaper.

Still having this issue even with new updates. Seems to only happen when I try to use more than 10 cards on a single boost attempt.

I have Mondesi at Level 4 and in checking CHANCE status to level up to 5, I'm seeing an issue I did not see before.

I selected 4008 points worth and need 6441 points to level up to 5. However, it is saying 25.40% chance of success. Shouldn't it be 4008/6441 for 62.23% chance of success?

I don't level up unless I have 100% chance, so I am getting there but I never noticed the percentage being off like that before. What am I missing?

Would love it if someone who has taken Foley to level 5 could tell us roughly how many points it cost in total.

I may be depressed by the 5 star combo teams, but I'm also somewhat in awe at what they've already accomplished.
