Is there any chance of you joining the OOTP team? Would be great to have updated rosters and accurate ratings come with the official release next year. No idea who OOTPs data provider for player ratings is. But it's disappointing to buy the new game and get outdated and inaccurate player ratings. Let's put CBL Cardinals in charge of this, OOTP DEVS!!! Last edited by Karl Pagel Blues; 04-30-2024 at 01:23 PM. |

![]() ![]() I do have a passion for re-creating as accurate MLB universe as possible and sharing with everyone. I check, re-check, and re-re-check everything on both a micro and macro view. (Ie does this player make sense as a “70” versus others, etc). That’s why I keep “tinkering” as weeks have evolved. I also have a subscription to Baseball America and when they launched the MLB draft top 400 prospects I decided to calibrate and add them to the roster set. Doing this in more of a full time role as an official member of the OOTP team would be a dream come true. More time for draft 2025, 2026 evaluations, more time for deep cuts on minor league rosters, more time for injury proneness evaluation (for example, how much of a ding should a pitcher have with Tommy John Surgery…etc al.) As far as if that’s ever realistic…. that’s 100% up to the OOTP leadership team. |

Rosters and ratings
Thanks a million for these roster sets with updated ratings, CBLC!
A shame that your ratings can't be imported to overwrite existing ratings in an ongoing save. The same with your revised 2024 draft class. I'm not a tech guy, but isn't there some way to make that happen? Each player has a unique ID, so it's just a matter of replacing "old" ratings with "new" ratings in the respective file, or? This game is already great, but being able to update player ratings in an ongoing save once or twice a year in accordance with real-world results would be icing on the cake. I'd even be willing to pay for that. |

Hey gang!
Few more updates… Brock Stewart, MIN I believe too low in my set. Boosted him. His velo was way too low. Jhoan Duran, MIN Increased ratings and updated his pitch mix Josh Rojas, SEA Has had a great April, and seems like a different player even since trade to Seattle last year. Boosted his ratings a bit to now be a 50 FV Luis Urias, SEA His ratings versus performance was a touch too high. Ramped him down. He’s now a 45 FV. Feel free to edit them in your roster set! |

Of course, this is continual work in progress, just as it is with CCBL's set, the updating never ends. For example, in the last couple patches, we've worked on probably 600+ new and updated draft prospects from with adjusted ratings from 2024-26 and well as continuous adjustments to other MiLB ratings as well, with more to come in time. None of which is intended to take away from any of the credit folks are giving CCBL here, as he does a great job and any praise for his efforts is fully deserved

It's doable, but the process is a bit laborious and annoying. Basically, I start a new save (or, in your case, start from your existing save), and export rosters to a text file using the function in settings. I open that file in Excel (not sure if you're using a Mac like I am, but if so you should select "Unicode UTF-8" as the importing language, make sure the "Delimited" is checked, and then click on "Commas" as the delimiter when the screen prompts you). I add a new column to that doc as Column A, then number it from 1 to whatever the last row is (probably 10,000, or thereabouts). This is just a dummy column so that when you're done editing you can sort by column A and get everything back in the right order. From there, open up CBL's roster in another Excel doc (extracting it the same way — open up his save file, and use the export roster function). Copy the entire doc of CBL's roster, and paste it just to the right of the base roster so that they're side by side in the same doc (it helps to reduce the column width of everything but the player ID and names; otherwise you're dealing with a ton of scrolling. From there, there are a couple of ways you can go depending on how thorough you want to be. You can highlight ONLY THE CELLS that contain the non-CBL roster, and sort them by player ID. Then do the same for the CBL cells — select them all, and sort by player ID. The result should be two side by side rosters that have players in the same order, and from there you can paste the CBL side onto the other side. Or, if you're insane like me and comfortable with Excel, there's another way. Happy to explain in greater detail, but this post is already embarrassingly long as it is — it involves creating two new columns and highlighting duplicates in order to make the two rosters match up with more precision. I wish there was an easier way to use CBL's ratings in a preexisting save or a live start, but as far as I know: this is the way. |

Moore, SEA Adjustments to France defense at 1B, and slight adjustments to Moore 3B & 2B to prevent AI starting him Crawford. BOS - Slight increase. Should be a 60 now Suarez, SD Holmes, NYY Gil, NYY Betts, LAD Turner, PHI Perkins, MIL his ratings way too low, especially contact. Was a 35 (!!) overall, now at least a 45 Slaten, BOS Brennan, CLE File will be up to Google drive shortly! |

I'm swamped with a few real-world projects at the moment. Once those are done, I will do as you described, using CBLC's V7 roster file. Looking forward to that! And thanks again. |

Two questions from someone just becoming familiar with your work:
1. At what point do you call it a day and stop updating ratings? 2. If you're updating ratings based on early season behaviors, what is to keep you from overrating or underrating someone? For example, Cowser came out of the gate like gangbusters, and I believe he was one of your early tweaks. He hasn't done much of anything since the first week of the season. Do you now tweak him again? I'm not trying to take issue with your process, I'm just trying to understand it. Thanks. |

Usually the calibrations are smaller, unless major changes in performance. For instance Kutter Crawford ZIPS entering this season had him as basically barely a #5 starter / 40 overall rating. I’ve bumped him up quite a bit over the past few weeks to now be a 60. So he’s legit #3, maybe #2 starter. Is it too high? Maybe, maybe not. Based on his early season results I feel very confident he’s closer to a 60 than a 40. The calibrations are to take the projections systems and typically slightly adjust as the season gets a few weeks in. Another one is Shota Imanaga. Early on he was probably a 50/55. He’s now a 60 or 65 in my roster set based on real life performance. He looks closer to a #2 plus versus a #4 guy to me. Luis Gill for the Yankees was about a 40 initially with projections. I now have him as a 50. Bumped up his fastball and changeup. He still has major walk issues, but his K rate is high. One that I’ve completely missed but will update as a one off for the group is Salvador Perez. Did you know this season he’s nearly tripled his career BB%, and cut his K% basically in half? Baseball Savant also has him as a good pitch framer for the first time I can ever recall. He’s also hitting like .350. Of all of these my plan for him is to bump up his eye (not all the way to current level, but he’s a drastically different hitter and approach this season), same with K rate, and bump up his contact. Is he a full season .350/450/600 monster with plus framing? Probably not, but he’s definitely proved to be a different approach and if we want a roster set to reflect both projections and reality he should receive a boost. As to when the ratings adjustments will end for me, since we are six weeks in to season probably very soon. I haven’t started my personal save, but plan to very, very soon.
