I'm sorry, the game is broken. This would never happen IRL.

Strikeout-mad Mike Schmidt breaking up a Nolan Ryan no-hitter in the 9th.

Hope they address this impossibility in the next patch!

I'm not so sure this very thing did not happen, once or twice. Two great players in their prime years!

Huh? Hell, we have had umpires ruin no-hitters, we have had hitters BUNT to ruin no-hitters, we have had fielders ruin no hitters... This seems more probably than the others but they have all happened... Don't know how this makes the game "Broken"

He 100% was, since he linked a video of Mike Schmidt breaking up a Nolan Ryan no hitter in the 9th inning.

I cheer for the guys that bunt to break up no-hitters.

A hit is a hit is a hit.

Agreed. Pitchers are supposed to be able to field bunts, and I don't think many pitchers give hitters a break, to, say, keep a record-breaking hitting streak going, etc. Same thing! The sport is supposed to be about competition, not legend-building statistics. Some of these so-called "unwritten rules" date back to the spitball, spikes-flashing era. (Also, the all-White era!)

I think the "you can't bunt to break up a no-hitter" is a relatively new one, though. Pete Rose bunted to break up Ken Johnson's no-hitter. He failed to get a hit but reached on a throwing error but ended up scoring and giving him the loss.

Wow, really?

Willie Mays tells a story where Bob Gibson threw at him because he took too long digging in.
