Post New Random Debut features

Started a random league to test new features.
Recalc. 3year double weighted
Development OFF
RAH—ON
Missed seasons according to history—ON
Injuries—OFF
Teams 16
Pitching rotation-5
Adjust/weaken- 500/250 and 60/30 (I just wagged these numbers but they seemed to work pretty good)
Annual Rookie draft-8 ROUNDS (tried 11 first but way to many players)

Simmed 20 years and checked the following.
All the position seemed covered with regular IRL starters with a couple extra at each position.
Had what I would consider starting pitchers IRL-93
Players did miss seasons as IRL
Players did retire as IRL.
Players that played in 2023 did continue playing until mid/late age 30s

Seems to be very promising if you want to play with development off (development is still an option).

Did the players that continued playing age etc. or did they Kris Davis it for the remaining years until the game tired of their presence? By Kris Davis it, I mean did they just repeat the same season?

This is earth-shaking for those of us who love random debut. As you know Reed, and I and many others I am sure am very grateful for your posting these findings - one issue in random debut is that the players just stay around forever, especially with development off, which I prefer otherwise. I never thought of keeping "retired according to history" and "missed seasons according to history" on with random debut. So basically, instead of it being the season - the calendar year, in which a player retired or missed a season it is the actual time in their life, as measured by their age that season that determines it?

Now, one drawback would be for those who like having say, Ted Williams and Joe Dimaggio etc. not miss their War years and who play with 5 year recalc to compensate, with development on. Ted would presumably miss seasons in random debut. I can live with that, and would still play 5-year recalc. Going to start a new league with these settings and see what transpires. I promise not to hold you responsible. I will blame Manfred like I usually do...

So, I would ask if you could give us a clearer explanation Reed of what you mean by players retired and missed seasons as in RL in a random debut league.

I tried it out and when I simmed to 1937 from 1936, all the players that retired after the 1936 season retired, not the players who should have retired based on their age-year.

And EVERY player that did not play in 1937, which means all but a handful - all the players who ever played after 1937 say from the 60, 70, 80s etc. all missed the season until I turned that feature back off and reset all injuries.

So when you tried it, the players who missed say the year they were 29 missed their 29 age season, o who missed their 23 age-season, missed that season, regardless of the era they played in historically and regardless of the season that you are playing in? Same with retirement?

I will try again, but on first try, I did not get this outcome.

Have you got the beta patch installed? If not, you don't have this feature yet. It's part of the latest patch.
