save preferences?

Is there a way to save my preferences so that every time I start a new game, they are set? things like ratings 20 / 80 or scouting level or rules. I know that I can save a template, but then if a patch comes and updates rosters my template will be out of date.

It would be super handy to save/load game settings without the full template.
