Signed FAs Immediately Placed on Waivers/Claimed

Somewhat in the title. Every game i start (and I have tried multiple new starts), if I sign a player on a major league contract, they are automatically placed on waivers/DFA'd and then claimed by another team. I have seen versions of this issue in prior OOTP years. Any clear solution? Is it a roster/AI/manager setting? Bug? Any help is appreciated.

It is difficult to replicate. Any details in how the game is set-up from defaults to (and especially) and custom settings used would likely help OOTPD. See this thread:

If there is anything you can describe about settings you used, maybe a commonality or pattern can be found in why it is in some games and not others.

What would really be most helpful for us from anyone seeing this, is literally a step by step of everything you click on in order to create your league. Whether a video of it or just a typed walkthrough here. Every setting you choose or button you click, so that we can actually recreate this.

Happy to help there. So all it is:

1. New Game
2. New Standard Game
3. Yes, enable challenge mode
4. Only MLB checked box
5. Start Game
6. Selected league MLB
7. Choose LA Dodgers
8. Play Mode: GM
9. Start Game
10. MLB>Transactions
11. Offer Contract to Brandon Belt
12. Ask for response > Submit offer > Auto Play until tomorrow > Eventually accepts offer
13. Now here's my workaround and where I think I found a solve: if i manually remove someone from my active roster, I can then assign Belt to my roster. No irrevocable waivers. If I "ask AI to set up complete organization, lineups, etc" it places him on irrevocable waivers. So maybe it is with the logic of "ask AI..." option?

Everything else default settings

Yes, do not chose the "Ask AI..." button.
Especially with a team like LAD where they have such a talented 26 man roster (and 40man) that it would be "difficult" for the AI to handle that situation properly.
For what it is worth, I do not allow any AI input for roster promotions / demotions for all levels of my team for these reasons (yo-yo'ing players from A ball to A+ and back is also quite unrealistic.

I didn't think about that when we were doing this a few weeks ago either, Lukas! That definitely does lean into where I thought the problem was when I was trying to help figure it out for Huabs 2 weeks ago. It's really the only place it can be, is in the player going "I don't want to deal with all of this other stuff, let the AI do it for me."

I'll track the new topic again now as well. should we merge the topic with the one we were working on then? There's multiple people in that thread that will want to track this.

Logic.
If there's a roster space available before the acquisition, then it doesn't (necessarily) need to think about "oh what do I do now? Well there's a major league contract, but there's nowhere on the major league roster available. Eh, just get rid of them and be done with it."

I believe that EVERY player signed to an MLB contract goes to the DFA list pending your assignment of them to the 40-man and a team in the org, as appropriate. That's not the issue.

The problem seems to be that if the 40-man is full (and maybe if it isn't) and if you ask the AI to set up the organization, the AI sees the player on the DFA and that player is assumed by the AI to be DFA'ed for release instead of just being a holding place for a newly FA pending addition to the roster/team.
