I have, based on forum responses, edged upward from 100 to 150 in past years. I haven't seen a dramatic change in the game play as a result. I play with development on, no annual recalc, but I play out individual seasons. Slowly. I suspect that the real impact of high TCR comes as you go forward 2-3-4-5 or more seasons, with no recalc. As has been said above, randomness is not instantaneous. It plays out over time. More time, more random. And remember that the game AI has no clue (other than potential values) that a future HOFer at 18 will become that player. We all could sign Ty Cobb at 18. This makes it tougher.

Tom Seaver was originally a 10th-round draft pick. Mike Piazza was picked in the 62nd round.

That's how the real world works!

I've always kind of chosen around 120-130 (or default) based on the suggestion of others, but with the tweaks the engine goes through every year (maybe especially this one with development), I don't know how we say what it does without someone doing some massive game testing. Which again, seems like it would be more difficult with this stat. Curious if it's been done.

Wise words. The completely anecdotal recommendations are well meant, but you also see outright contradictions in different responses—whom is affected, magnitude of the effect, etc. It is somewhat like the discussion about AI player evaluation weights, where you will see claims to “have really noticed an improvement” from some small adjustment in the distribution of weights. Don’t get me wrong, if people are enjoying their experience more, then more power to them regardless of whether the change is in fact real or merely (mis)perceived. As an interested observer, however, the cumulative takeaway of these threads is noise obscuring any signal.

I usually change it year to year, sometimes it's under 100, other times I max it out.

I play with 200. I love it when late draft picks make it to the big leagues! I do notice more flameouts (especially with HS players) and I do notice some guys getting a wild TCR offseason (five pitch 15th round draft pick with 30 stuff / movement / control going haywire with a velocity increase making him suddenly 70 pot stuff / movement / control).

I play with 115.

Not much of a fan of full randomness. Although with 115 some superstar players come out that one had no idea, as well as some potential superstars do not go beyond AA because of their declining ratings.

Prior to 24, I played with high TCR (anywhere from 130 to 200) but in recent versions of the game I've been using the default setting of 100. My impression is that in recent versions of the game prospects are more likely to never develop to their peak and thus I don't need to rely on TCR to create uncertainty in prospect development.
