The new features and how they work

Hello
What are all the new features. Some were told to us but I know there are some that have not been talked about. With all the new features: teaching a young player a new pitch or better contact, how do you use them? I am only a GM so how would I approach all these new features?

The player development seems confusing. I am not sure the best way to approach it as a GM. Should I just have my manager decide these things or what?

I do not immediately see how to maximize value in the player development lab. For me, that is exciting! I'm glad to tinker around with it and get it to serve my needs.

My impression is that (like many of the OOTP game systems) there is no 100% "correct" way to use the PDL. We all certainly have different styles and viewpoints in how we construct rosters and utilize players of different skillsets. Each of us decides how these tools best serve the goals for our sim in that moment. Finding the "optimal" solution, by having someone explain it to me in a YouTube video or in a post doesn't really line up with how I have fun in this game.

However, I acknowledge that others do have a desire to min/max or find the "best" way to use tools in the game. That is totally valid! This game has so many options, and ways to enjoy it. It's a big reason why I've become an instant fan of the game!

A couple of things are clear. You can use it to change position or develop a third pitch to make a reliever a starter. I am not sure this increases the potential or just gets them closer to potential as of yet. So if I want to train a guy at CF and use teach new position does increase the potential CF or just get him closer to potential?

It is time intensive but there are always players I draft who are weak fielders I want to move to an easier position so it is an alternative to force start at position. For instance a guy who can play SS but it isn't great might make a good 3B or 2B. In a traditional lineup I can see working on base stealing for a leadoff or potential leadoff man. I am not sure if I want to use this for developed players to tweak them or just for prospects coming up. Maybe a bit of both?

Certainly, feel free to delegate it if it seems confusing. Take your time getting to know it by observing for a few years. I agree with what was said above in that there is no "right" way to use it. For my part, I might be inclined to give my team a personality. I might try building a team focused on up-the-middle defense and so work to max that out. Or contact and stolen bases. You can try max a team strength just as easily as you can try to shore up a weakness. In a sandbox game, it's a sandbox tool.

Imagine yourself as actually drawing a paycheck as the GM of your favorite team. There is no right answer because the success of the team is the result of all the players and their talents on the roster, and how and when they are used by the manager. So, what I'm trying to say is the player development option puts you in a real-life situation... take your best guess and if your wrong - adjust.

It should be out today (soon). They are waiting for Steam to approve it.

So I have OOTP 25 and it surprised me with new stuff. First, you can not expand the league until after the 24 season. Liked that. Second, players coming from Spring Training are not really pissed about their performance. The new resolution is great though hard on my eyes lol. This might be the best OOTP ever. (Though, not everyone has faces like they did in OOTP 24, but I can get over that.) What does everyone else think?

For fictional faces, go to Gane Settings>Facegen and at the top change “None” to your preferred option.

Or see the Complete Universe Facegen 2.0 thread on the mod, photo sub forum. Or via my signature block. Or if on Steam, through the Workshop.

Yes, loving OOTP25 too!

Can we at least run reports of team vs team GM vs GM on profitability?
As GM my goal is profit

I love the lab. I was able to turn JD Davis into a pretty great catcher with it.

This is what concerns me about the development lab.

I have it disabled!
