Moving AGM to Manager via Appoint As?

I fired my Manager as he sucked, and wanted to move my AGM to Manager since his ratings look really good as a Manager. So I fired my Manager, but my AGM has the Appoint As option greyed out in his Profile page. What gives?

He doesn't want to be a manager.

Hmm, okay. I didn't consider that as the explanation since his normal role is a Manager. Thank you!

I'm guessing it's because manager is viewed as a "demotion" in the AI hierarchy.

GM > Assistant GM > Manager > Bench/Hit/Pitch > Base
