Hey gang,

Seeing some really good results overall for both the stats output, and prospect progression. Some Top 100 guys are making debuts either in 2024 and 2025 such as Junior Caminero, James Wood, Paul Skenes, Dylan Crews, Chase DeLauter, Colson Montgomery and many, many more. Too many to list them all.

Initially I see about 10 teams that claim they are over budget, however it appears to be due to the owner taking back a lot of cash. This mostly resolves itself once ticket sales kick in, and then to the 2025 offseason.

Some teams will be a fun & special challenge. The LA Angels Arte Moreno is a controlling owner that sets all of your budgets, including scouting, draft, etc al.

For those that want a real challenge, take on Oakland and owner John Fisher. Market is Tiny, owner spends nearly zero dollars, focus is extreme profits, and fan interest is at a 1 out of 100.

The off-season had some interesting developments. The Yankees did not re-sign Soto, and he ended up signing with the….cross town Mets!

Not crying poor the Yankees then flexed their financial might and signed both Blake Snell (opted out of his 2 year deal with SF) and a resurgent Shane Bieber, fresh off a 4 WAR 2024 season.

At a quick glance you see relatively expected behavior - big market teams spending $$$, smaller market teams investing money in development and draft budget.

OPENING DAY for the roster set is NEAR!

*** NOTES BEFORE LAUNCH - PLEASE READ ***

- This is a OOTP25 roster set
- Initial roster set has all teams to NOT allow AI changes. You will need to enable this in the setting screen after you pick your team
- I have player development average to be $15M
- Scouting is ON. If you want to see how I’ve built the universe turn scouting off, turn on 20-80 ratings, increments of 5. The scale is as I mentioned in an earlier post of most MLB players are 45-55, etc
- I have a custom scale for player expected salaries. Super star level set to $32M. Other ranges typically higher than OOTP default
- For some players I’ve had to remove ability to play secondary positions to get the AI behavior to react as we expect in 2024.
- The OHTANI adjustment. Since he is not pitching this year, I have removed his pitching abilities for the 2024 season. I do have some ability for him to play LF. If I had him with a long term DTD arm injury the AI would eventually put him on the 60 day IL. I’ll post what you should edit his pitcher ratings to in the 2025 season soon.
- I play with minors & experience limits to keep players moving through the minors and no 35 year olds dominating Rookie ball. I believe PSU or another board member posted these in the past and works quite well:

AAA & AA - 30 player roster, no limit on experience

A+ - 30 player roster, 5 years experience and less

A - 30 player roster, 4 years experience and less

DSL - 50 player roster, 3 years experience and less

Rookie - 50 player roster, 3 years experience and less

- With Blake Snell signing so late in Spring, I’m estimating he will need some “ramp up” before MLB action. I have him starting on SF IL for 21 days for build up reps.

I’m probably forgetting some things but that should cover a majority of initial questions.

Can you help with the process of where the folders go? I downloaded and unzipped the file, but not sure of the process. Thanks in advance for your help and for doing this project!

Yes!

Once you download file, unzip the folder directly to your OOTP25 saved games folder.

Once you do this, load the file from the main menu.

Yeah that’s what I thought as well. I believe someone somewhere posted if Ohtani then subsequently also suffers another injury on top of his long term DTD arm, AI will put him on 60 day IL.

Maybe someone else can help confirm?

Need to enable ratings in setup screen.

I usually play with ratings off and only potentials showing.

I forgot to switch back before uploading :/

Also remember scouting is on so would need to turn those off to get true ratings.

How did you decide on the contract number for Ohtani?

Awesome!

I just put in Ohtani’s 700m / 10 years as 70m per year.
Even if payments are deferred the Dodgers have to stash the other 68m every year somewhere.

Version 2 of file is now live. This evening I've been tinkering more with team financials, mostly team season tickets, etc.

This version has a few less teams that are over budget, at least initially.

Just downloaded and took a look around, thanks for the hard work on this and it looks great. Any reason for excluding KBO and the other leagues, though? Or is there a way I can add them back in?

My original file imported from OOTP 24 did not have the other leagues, only just MLB
