Let me put this as simply as possible...

Your not buying a car !

The car you want has been produced, and is sitting on the lot or showroom, and you can spend the entire day looking at it in detail before you sign the papers.

OOTP is the same. When it releases, you will be able to kick the tires and go over the options list. Those of us that have bought 25 versions of this game are well aware that we, too, have to wait until we get our hands on it - but have been happy with 90% of the versions we have bought.

If you don't want to buy until your 100% sure your getting your money's worth, then pay whatever price is current when you finally make up you mind.

Also change log will be avaliable on Tuesday, General release is Friday. And many first impressions posts to help you decide. As far as pre-order discount that is the price for not knowing everything you will get in the game. They did one nice thing today there is a list of features that won't be ready for a couple of weeks
One more thing you could have chosen to be a beta tester and know all the features

I don't pre-order video games that often, the last one being WWE2K24 and they did it right... they used social media to give all the new features and the entire roster well before the pre-order time was over. To those defending this game... the industry doesn't work like these developers have chosen to operate. Regardless of how they've done in the past... this is not entitlement wanting to know what you're paying for. At least in the US, most of us are struggling in a horrible economy. It was tone deaf to raise the price and still act this mysterious about the new release

The amount of bootlicking going on in this thread is legitimately insane. We hardly know anything about the game that launches early access tomorrow and most people are just saying oH wElL yOu sHoUlD kNoW oOtP by now. Imagine if any other company marketed a new game like this they would be getting absolutely drug through the mud

So wait until tomorrow when the details are published, and still get the same deal that anyone who preordered it got, for at least another week! Whodathunkit! 🤦*♂️. Whining like a child is annoying. This is the guaranteed best baseball simulation every single year.

How do you hardly know anything? That’s the most insane claim made all day. It’s the best baseball simulation that’s coming out this year. Guaranteed. Just because all the brand new features are being kept secret for another 18 hours doesn’t mean you “hardly know anything.” JFC

i do think they could do a better rollout but man, people are acting like we know zero about the game when they've been pretty open about the player dev lab and it got a substantial amount of time in one of the streams. and is also something people have wanted for YEARS. it is a significantly bigger addition than what's been added since my first version (21) like staff cohesion, coach personalities, IAFA fixes, trade deadline, nerfing catcher ability, etc. arguably bigger than all of those combined.

not to mention the editor changing from 250 to 550 which will patch up historical outliers, which it seems like a lot of people on here mostly play (as opposed to reddit where i usually discuss the game - lots of online or fictional league stuff there).

plus there's always things we don't know going into release week and its always been fine. i dunno. why are people so mad about this.

I wasn't ever pre-ordering with the lack of information given. I doubt I'll even buy the game at all. I'm assuming that there won't be any major additions. I know personally if I had a game that I made, I'd want to share info about the new exciting features. If it's just incremental changes, it is probably very much skippable. Last years game is actually solid. And nothing about the few little nuggets that have been shared do absolutely nothing for me. No whining involved. Just gotta decide if this is where I spend my gaming money. And the developers have shown me nothing yet that says give them money. It seems like I'd mostly be new roster and nothing else

Did WWE2K24 honor their pre-order price for a week after the game was released, the masses got their hands on it, and reviews were being written? Did they have a pre-order price, or was it just one month of Peacock for free? If there was a discount I couldn't find it with a quick Google search. I know what I'd take if WWE2k offered me a choice of 30% off ($21 off a PS5 version) or a full list of new features a week or two early. I'd take the $21 in savings in my pocket as I read the list of features on release day. YMMV.

OOTP is honoring their discount for a week, 10 days if you include the three day early period, AND they have already announced the v24 "big" features. That's 10 days of reviews, forum talk, user screen shots etc. etc. etc. that a buyer is privy to before putting any money on the table.

As far as the price increase.. With the discount the price is either the same as last year or maybe a few pennies cheaper. How are they tone deaf again? And again, that discount is good for 10 days after beta release so you can know what you are buying.

I'll take OOTP's "wrong" over WWE2k's "right" every time.

Then you got a group of people raging on them for questioning a company's marketing strategy.

As a newbie. This thread is super weird. Everyone is so aggressive or defensive. I only see that with games that sell multiple million copies. Weird behavior for a small Indy title.

As someone who has lurked around here for years. I rarely check the forums after the game releases... but it seems the old timers around here will "protect" the developers from anyone. But all they are doing is chasing away potential customers or chasing people from this board. I've been making logos, uniforms, faces and other stuff for my game. But I hate this board with such a passion, I never signed up to share. I only did today because the "arguments" here against people wanting to know what's new is such a horrible look for this company. All you should be ashamed of yourself. You act like you live and breath this game... but all you do is alienate customers that could help the game grow, in both sales and modding. You are the embodiment of entitlement because you act like you're entitled to lord over anyone who has a different opinion.

Here’s a tip - if you’re dissatisfied with the amount of information you’re getting for the product you’re considering buying, it’s probably financially irresponsible for you to buy it.

The marketing of the product is out of your control. The money you choose to spend is completely in your control. Want that to change? Do something more than just complain. Or buy MLB The Show.
