Player Role Question

I have a Center on my team that is constantly on the "didn't stay in assigned role" list on the post game analysis. His Scouting report has hm listed stating the best parts of his game is his Playmaking ability. Which is true and so I have him listed as a Playmaker. However, in the post game analysis, it stats that he keeps trying to play as a Counterattacking Forward". To me, this seems like a completely different kind of role and doesn't really utilize his playmaking skills. Should I put him as this CA role and see how he does and then adjust his sliders to pass more and shoot less? I haven't messed with it a ton because I felt like playing into the scouting report along with matching to the best role was the best way to go with things.

Not sure if anyone has come across this before and what their experiences have been.
