He and Ken Tekulve are probably my favorite pitchers of all time. Sounds like he was a really good dude, too. RIP Tim.

Always wanted Wake to play for the White Sox. I am a huge fan of all Knuckleballers. Sad that he's basically the last 1, RIP.

Err…a Pirate? Three Rivers? Brain cancer?

Sounding a bit too familiar, alas. (See Quiz, Kid, and all those latter-day Whiz Kids.) Sucks regardless, but especially if this is one more for the Turf.

Stacy Wakefield passes away, five months after Tim.

Whereas Tim had brain cancer, and thus might have been one more victim of Killer Turf Chemicals, Stacy's cancer was pancreatic, and thus unlikely to be related. Simply rough luck for their kids, who are still teenagers, I believe.

Wikipedia says the kids were born in 2004/2005, so they're technically adults.

But I know enough 18-year-olds that can't make themselves a sandwich without mom and dad rendering assistance, so there's that.

I don't care if you're my age (54). Losing both parents in less than a year's time is traumatic.

I was 48 when my dad died. Still not ready. Can't imagine losing both at 18-19.

My dad passed away more than 40 years ago. He and mom were married 33 years, and my mom married their best friend, and was married to him for 36 years.

The emotional impact of losing both parents at any age can be incredibly challenging. My thoughts and sympathy remain with the family as they navigate through this difficult period.
