JULY 2049 - TRADE NEWS ...

Saw John Sarver on the trade block, and recognized his name from past updates, and games against him playing for SD. I asked their GM to "make this work", and saw 2B Gamble was one of the options. Been struggling to extend him on reasonable terms, and so I pulled the trigger. Sarver is expensive, like 30M AAV over 5y, but also a big upgrade to LF (Owner Goal), and should be a solid middle of the order piece to make up for the loss of Maxwell (FA) and the upcoming loss of Goldman (FA after next season).





Another reason for the trade. We're limited in how much money we can save and still be competitive, so we need to increase attendance and revenue, and this move should help with that.

The injuries stints are piling up for Martinez, and seem to be significantly affecting his overall production.

LF/DH Bill Daniell has been a major disappointment coming into July, but put up his best month of the season with a slash line of .423 / .440 / .577.

SS Cardenas also produced a big July and is now among the league leaders in doubles and has been the Mesa MVP so far.

I cannot keep CF Sand from stealing bases, and his CS are wiping out much of his production in getting on base. I've lowered to base stealing team strategy to well below average, and also his own personal strategy ... but he continues to run into outs.

Luis Diaz was called up and stepped into the rotation and has been a very welcome surprise.

Mesa had a heckuva month going 18-11 against a brutal schedule with series versus many top teams. But, the LA Lava went 23-6 versus a much more favorable schedule, passing the Monsters in the standings and leading the division heading into the final month of the season.

Starting September and things do not look good for Mesa. Going 18-11 in August was trumped by LA going 23-6. The Monsters will need to play very well in September AND hope that LA's tougher schedule results in a flip of what happened in August.

Among this year's September Callups is SP Travis Wagner, last summer 1st rd pick for Mesa. Despite only 1 minor league season under his belt, and making his NABO debut, he pitched a very good game.
