Donovan Osborne
If you find it odd that Donovan Osborne is living in a fantasy world of being the Yankees’ fifth starter, you are not alone. In fact, Osborne himself is surprised to be standing where he is. And he’s not over-confident at all that he can fill Jon Lieber’s shoes.
“It hurts the starting rotation without Jon in it,” said Osborne, who has moved into the No. 5 spot thanks to Lieber’s groin injury and Jorge De Paula’s balky back. “If it’s me who is in there, I will do my job until he comes back.” Lieber will start the season on the DL after re-injuring the groin Saturday while warming up for his first spring start. Lieber was so amped to be pitching after 20 months of inactivity and coming back from Tommy John surgery that he didn’t tell the Yankees’ medical staff of the problem until after the game. Now, he is shut down for at least two weeks. De Paula is sidelined by a minor back problem on the left side. With GM Brian Cashman reluctant to entertain trade offers for Jarrod Washburn or Kris Benson and John Burkett not interested in resuming his career, it falls to Osborne, a 34-year-old lefty who didn’t pitch last year and made 11 relief appearances for the Cubs in 2002 before suffering a season-ending oblique muscle strain in May. “It’s a good opportunity,” said Osborne, who has a career record of 47-46. “It’s overwhelming to pitch for the Yankees.” Osborne, a nine-year veteran whose best season was 1996, when he was 13-9 with a 3.53 ERA in 30 starts and pitched a career-high 198 2/3 innings, starts Friday night against the Indians in Winter Haven. - NY Post, March 16, 2004 Hope this one works for ya.

Wondering if I could get a pre-'stache Buckner from one of you facegen wizards, for the early '70's Dodger teams on my All Teams quickstart.

I won't lie... without facial hair he is an average joe.

One more, if you don't mind. A clean shaven Nate Colbert. A lot of photos of him have shadows, so slim pickens. He was first in the big leagues in '66, so that'd make it at least seven years before he sported facial hair in the Show. Again, with these, I'm not picky on the amount of time spent on a facegen, or even if they have smiles, just something that fits with baseball pre-Reggie showing up to spring training with a beard in '72. Before that, literally no player had rocked facial hair since the Deadball era.
I should be done updating my All Teams quickstart, which will include these facegens, in a week or two, and will share in a post on another forum upon its completion. It's an enormous quickstart, about 35 Gs, that's a tournament containing every individual team from each season in MLB history since the merger in 1901. That's 2,646 teams, in rounds of best-of-seven series, until one is left standing. |

Sadly I can't post the FG because it is way too big (1.536 MB) for the forum but it's one of the best I have done so it's a preview of the forties update coming in some weeks...
Mine is at its normal placement and the current one (I think it is, I don't have the current pack on my hard drive) is at the end.

Wondering if I could get a young Al Hrabosky facegen. Doesn't have to be a work of art, just something that fits with the clean shaven era. He didn't appear with facial hair, at least on baseball cards, until 1975.

AESP, if you wanted to mess around with better photography some more, it'd be sweet to get a clean shaven McGwire facegen for the All Teams quickstart I'm updating and later sharing.

As soon as I finish 1942 I'll give him a try... three more teams to do so it should be done tonight or tomorrow morning.
