...And to ask if anyone has a guide on how to make this work? When I download and unzip the file it makes a .lg folder (my OOTP saves are .ootp24lg) and I can't figure out how to make the game recognize this one as a save. Thanks in advance for any help!

Hey gang!

Thanks for the compliments

As far as where to place the file, you should be able to unzip it to your saved_games folder in OOTP directory.

From there, just make sure the file has a .lg at the end of the name.

After steps above you should be able to select load and the file name from the OOTP start screen.

Can you post the names here?

Essentially I used a system to convert Steamer stats over to OOTP ratings in a large spreadsheet. Matching for said ratings from workbook to game was by first name_last name.

I did catch a few of these but certainly not all of them :/

One that I found was RP Will Smith, had very good hitting ratings.

Ok good catch - I’ve updated on my side the Royals pitcher Will smith to not have Dodgers catcher Will smith batter ratings.

OOTP

Hey gang,

My plan is to send out an updated file over next week or two. I will use this same thread for any other roster updates, et al to keep everyone updated.

This update will have:

- Roster file now moved closer to Arbitration hearing dates (late December in the file).

- Updated trades/free agent signings between now and then.

- Scouting turned on / financials updates for teams.

- Contract updates (Yamamoto, Matsui, others)

- Resolve any issues others have caught (ie Pitcher Will Smith having strong batter ratings from Catcher Will Smith)

- Ohtani dilemma. In my version I plan to remove his injury and edit his pitcher Stamina, Movement, and Control all down to 1 (out of 250), and least for the 2024 season so he will be DH only. Then concluding the 2024 season I will edit his ratings back to allow him as a pitcher

Over time, I am reviewing at least the Top 100 prospects for MLB draft. Hopefully I can include them in next update. TBD.

Top 100 draft prospects for 2024 MLB draft is coming along nicely. Hope to have more info in a few days. I basically have the hitters done, and need to calibrate the pitchers.

For those wondering, I typically leverage Baseball America for minor league prospects, draft prospects, and international. I also use MLB Pipeline and Fangraphs as well.

For the 2024 MLB draft top 100 I suggest you reference MLB Pipeline and get familiar with them

** Updates **

Hey gang,

Great news - next file update will now feature the real Top 100 prospects for MLB draft! I leaned more on MLB Pipeline since they have both good scouting reports, and tool ratings to leverage. There are about 105 players total rated at least 45 FV (overall potential), so basically covers first three rounds.

This draft class has some interesting and solid players, with a few that could be above average players, but no future superstars like 2023 draft with Dylan Crews, Paul Skenes, and Wyatt Langford.

The breakdown:

60 FV (4 hitters, 1 closer)
Above average MLB potential / #3+ SP / plus to elite bullpen arm / potential All Stars

55 FV (13 hitters, 7 pitchers)
Slightly above average MLB potential / #4+ SP / plus bullpen arm

50 FV (27 hitters, 17 pitchers)
Average MLB potential / #4/5 SP

45 FV (36 total players)
Second division starter, possible bench utility, #5/6 SP


From here I may add in top 50 international free agents to teams they are expected to sign with. TBD.

Thanks CBL, this is so cool! A quick dumb question: Could we start a new game using your latest file then update with your various updates, a la draft prospects, as it goes? Or would we have to start our game over? Trying to decide whether to start now with your latest update or wait a week or two for the draft prospects.

Good question…

I *believe* you can import draft classes, but I’m not 100% certain. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

Next release should be a few days.

*** Update ***

I’ve decided to progress file after salary arbitration hearings, and first “official” day of free agency.

That way any minor league 2024 free agents that have signed last few weeks I can assign a minor league deal to them and not have them move off rosters once free agency hits.

- Nearing completion of adding in the Top 50 2024 international signees per Baseball America on team they are expected to sign with.

- Minor leagues and depth overall looking good. On average, each team has around 48+ players in the minors that are at least a 40 FV potential value. Some teams are higher, some lower.

Still looking to launch later this week new file. From there, I will have some other minor checks for overall league ratings calibration.
