FIGHT RESULT – JUNE 5, 1980 JUNIOR MIDDLEWEIGHT UNDERCARD FIGHT #3 We go to the ring where Mark Beiro is ready with the call ... Ladies and Gentlemen! The Referee stopped the bout with 2:52 gone in Round 8! Your winner by TKO … Terry Norris! JUDGE JURY EXECUTIONER WOW! Lupe Aquino had the Lead over Terry Norris before Norris’s TKO in Round 8! A rapid-fire succession of Hooks by Norris had the REF jump in and Rescue Aquino in Round 8! INSIDE THE ROPES Aquino KNOCKED DOWN Norris in Round 7! However, Norris rebounded quickly & sent Aquino to the Canvas in Round 8! After Aquino beat the 10-Count, he was battered silly by a serious barrage of Hooks causing the REF to stop the Fight! Aquino won 5 of 7 Rounds on 2 Judges’ Cards & 6 of 7 on the other Card! That all went by the wayside when he was Battered into submission by Norris in Round 8! Bruce McTavish, New Zealand has it 114 to 109 Barry Druxman, United States sees the fight 115 to 108 Scott Morrison, United States scores the fight 114 to 109 The winner by unanimous decision … Gianfranco Rosi! JUDGE JURY EXECUTIONER Rosi KNOCKED DOWN Williams 4 TIMES! 2 of those were in the 8th Round and 2 were in the 11th Round. They were Scored 10-7 Rounds & In the Unanimous Decision, that gave Rosi the WIN! FIGHT RESULT – JUNE 5, 1980 JUNIOR MIDDLEWEIGHT UNDERCARD FIGHT #7 Let's go to Pat Harker for the call ... Ladies and Gentlemen! The end comes at the 2:26 mark in Round 8. Your winner by TKO … Rocky Mattioli! JUDGE JURY EXECUTIONER Mattioli had a comfortable Lead on the Judges’ Cards before the TKO! He KNOCKED DOWN Denny Moyer Once in the 7th Round and Twice in the 8th Round! The beating that Moyer took in the 8th was difficult to watch! INSIDE THE ROPES The bout turned brutal after Moyer was KNOCKED DOWN by Mattioli in ROUND 7! Moyer was still dazed when he vacated his stool to begin Round 8! He took a vicious beating to begin Round 8. When he hit the canvas the first time many thought the Ref should have Stopped it. But he didn’t … And it turned brutally ugly until Moyer hit the canvas again! And again, the Ref did not stop the fight! Daniel Talon, France scores the bout 115 to 113 for Julio Cesar Vasquez Glenn Feldman, United States scores the bout 114 to 114 - even Daniel Van De Wiele, Belgium scores the bout 116 to 114 for ... Your winner by MAJORITY DECISION … Julio Cesar Vasquez! JUDGE JURY EXECUTIONER An interesting flight that seemingly could have gone either way! Vasquez won Rounds 9 & 10 on all 3 Judges’ Cards and he took Round 11 on 2 of 3 Cards. Those margins at the end gave him the MAJORITY DECISION! INSIDE THE ROPES A lot of exchanges occurred in this fight! They both fought a tough fight with many toe-to-toe exchanges! However, there were NO KNOCKDOWNS! In the end, it was Vasquez who outpointed Foreman in Rounds 9, 10, and 11. And that led to the Majority Decision in favor of Vasquez! Tony Perez, Puerto Rico has it 114 to 113 Gary Camponeschi, United States sees the fight 114 to 113 Roy Ovalle, United States scores the fight 114 to 113 For your winner … By unanimous decision … Ki-Soo Kim!!! JUDGE JURY EXECUTIONER Kim had a KNOCK DOWN in ROUND 10 and it was Scored 10-8 in his favor. In a very close fight, that Knockdown was the margin needed for him to defeat Drayton! INSIDE THE ROPES The Punch that dropped Drayton in the 10th Round was a blistering RIGHT HOOK! Kim threw all his punches effectively and he was the Aggressor in this fight!
