Improved subscription options for 'news & mail' screen

I've been posting about this right back to 2013, but can we please get an updated way of handling inbox news in the next version?

As I'm focused on historical observer games, the lack of upgrades to news was a lot of my reason for not buying OOTP24 so if there have been any changes I'd be interested in details. Based on what I can see there are no changes, so I'm asking if we can finally get an upgrade to the options available.

I might be in a tiny minority, but this is the OOTP feature I'm most passionate about so if anyone from the company is interested in discussing further I'd be happy to map out a suggestion on how to handle it.

The TLDR version is to just look at the way the Football Manager social feed handles news items. In FM you can subscribe to a league, and then to the subcategories under the league for full flexibility on what your inbox looks like, but in OOTP you can only pick 'your league' or 'entire world'. So for instance, if you're playing multiple international leagues and want to see the news from MLB and Australia you can't do this without also seeing items from Italy, Germany, Korea etc... that you have no interest in.

And the categories themselves need subcategory options. For example I want notifications of no hitters or perfect games but not 3x home runs in a game or 10x strikeouts, and I want to know who wins leagues that I'm not managing in but don't want to see absolutely everything that 'general league news' currently shows.

The news feature is not the sexiest part of the game but please consider giving it a polish for next year because I think even people who have never given this a thought in the past would notice the difference with an upgrade.

To keep all my news related suggestions in the same thread, others that has come to mind:

* Add option for 'no frills' news. I'd like to be able to choose to get inbox information in the same format as the transaction log. Just the details without trade winds blowing and sources in the organization.
* News when a free agent from your league joins a team in another league.

P.S - In regards to my original post, the Almanac Report settings already has a checkbox per category that could be used as the basis for updating news subscriptions.
