OOTP 24 public beta patch (version 24.11.85) available!

Important: This patch is only for OOTP 24 versions which were purchased directly from us or resellers who use our version. It is also available via the Steam client with the public password below.
It is NOT compatible with the Mac OSX AppStore or Epic version!

Hi everybody!

We're preparing to release a new maintenance patch, so here is a new public beta, version 24.11.85. Please give it a try if you'd like to help This will most likely be the last patch for OOTP 24 as we're already deep into OOTP 25 development.

Use this at your own risk! Please back up important league files before loading them in this beta. This patch is compatible with the previous patch for online leagues - exports will work between versions, however both clients and the commish need to update to benefit from the online league fixes.

Fixed wrong city of birth and school in historical games
Fixed minor league rosters over limit
Fixed some issues with KBO Live Starts setting up the playoffs
Fixed recently used conditions list in tables
Added Purge old Messages option
Fixed rare crash on scouting page
Fixed minor league rosters over limit
Fixed error popup in some lists
PT: Fixed subtype filter


How to access the beta on Steam:

• Quit OOTP 24 if it's running.
• Open Steam client -> Library
• Right click on Out of the Park Baseball 24
• Click on "Properties" at the bottom of the menu
• Click on the beta tab. Here, enter the following code / password: ootp24betapt
• Click on "Check code"
• Open the beta pull-down and select "publicbeta".
• Close the Steam client (Steam menu -> Exit)
• Open the client again. It should then download the beta build.

Update Info for our webstore customers: To apply the update, simply download the setup file and install it over your current installation. There is no need to uninstall or unlicense your current copy! However, you should quit the game before installing it, of course. Updates always contain all the changes from previous updates. Saved games are compatible between different versions.

Here's a PC installer (Fastspring) that installs into a single folder, which is useful for external HDs for example. Or for creating a second test install of the game, so you can try the patch out without the risk of messing up your main install of the game if something is wrong in the patch:

Does this mean that all of the wrong states have been fixed? For example, Addie Joss has long been listed as being born in Woodland, CA, when he was actually born in Woodland, WI.

Have the states been fixed? I'm not sure if fixing the "cities" means that the states have been fixed or not. I could be wrong, but it appeared to me that the issue was states being wrong, not cities, but I know that ... never mind. Anyway, I'd appreciate an answer if you know it. (I don't have the 24 game, and this sloppiness and lack of care, which is hopefully in the past, is one of the many reasons why.)

The issue with the game using the cities from the wrong states is not what was fixed here, just an issue where entirely wrong cities were being incorrectly imported.

The same cities in wrong states is an entirely different thing that is not due to sloppiness, but is something that requires a significant coding change to change. It's on our list of things to improve in the future.

Okay regarding it requiring a significant coding change. It seemed to me that it was simply data entry, but I understand that you're saying that it isn't.

Yeah, correct. The cities of birth for historical players are accurate as far as having the correct states, in our db, but the game does not read the states when importing, rather reads the city name and then tries to match that up to the db. With wrong results in some cases, as you mention.

This has actually been a legacy issue for some time now, not a new thing in OOTP24, but I'm hopeful it's something we'll be able to get changed in the near future (though would be for a new version of OOTP).

I hope so too. That would be great. This is something that has frustrated me for years, but it does help to understand why it hasn't been fixed yet.

Lukas, I am assuming this will only affect saves started with Build 85?
