Going to miss the playoffs...and I am happy about it :)

Not sure why I feel this way, but for the first time in 33 years of my sim and just the 3rd time in 35 years, my team is going to miss the playoffs. In fact, I'll be lucky to finish at .500. I did not necessarily set out to go into rebuild mode...there really was not much in the FA market that enticed me to spend the type of money they were asking for. I had some youth coming up and felt they should have full time jobs...so I filled out my roster with role players.
Well, with 1 week to go in the season, I am sitting in 5th...4.5 games out of the last wildcard spot, and exactly at .500.
Oddly, I am actually excited to enter an off season with plenty of payroll room and no where to go but up. I always read posts from those that enjoyed taking on expansion franchises and now I see why.

It's amusing; occasionally, I accidentally stub my toe, and it brings a big old smile to my face.

I mean, sometimes the best way to move forward is to give yourself some breathing room and cap space.

Or sometimes it means you're going down to the cellar, lol.
