12 Team Online League Expansion tips

I'm the commish of a 12-team online league going into its 8th season. We're getting ready to expand to 14 teams at the end of the season. This is my first go as a commish so looking for some tips on a smooth expansion.

We already have both expansion team GMs in the league and the expansion will start as soon as the current season wraps up. This is what I'm thinking for expansion rules:
- 15 protected players per team
- Auto protection for players with under 3 years pro service time
- Max of 5 players per team drafted

I can't decide on number of rounds for the expansion draft. With only 12 teams in the league, I don't want to dilute the talent pool too much. Thinking maybe 20 rounds and let the exp teams fill out their roster and minors through FA? Any input on this would be appreciated.

Also, as far as the expansion logistics, I believe I just add the teams on the first day of the off season and the expansion draft will be automatically scheduled in game. Any thoughts on how to execute the expansion draft? We're an S+ league but I don't think they have a tool for that.

Would also appreciate any general tips on a smooth expansion process if I'm missing anything!

The number of rounds isn't going to change the fact that there's 50 new ML jobs in the league. The league will already be diluted by that amount.

I would not overcomplicate the expansion draft. You don't want your league members to be waiting forever for two teams to pick players that won't even be on their team in a few seasons. Just have them set their expansion draft list using the in-game feature and run the draft in-game. That's what I always did.

Don't overthink it. The goal is only to get them started with a small pool of ML-caliber players so they don't lose 130 games in their first season.
