Coach firings
Has anybody noticed that there seems to be an excessive amount of hair trigger coach firings during the season? It seems like almost a third of teams fire and replace their coach (often with a weird replacement, and occasionally with another team's GM haha) mid season. Even teams that are doing decent or with a brand new coach (I've seen a coach hired mid-season and fired before the end of the year, which seems rare irl).

I also find it a bit a weird that a new coach or GM is immediately announced. I get that this might happen mid-season, but it rarely happens in the offseason.

You either take it, or you don't. Also, as far as I can tell, you lose score for what you achieved in your current team, only results from your new team work. If you want to switch teams, wait until the 30th June, get your score, resign, sim to 1st of July /so next season/, then pick your new team. |

I vote for a tonedown as well.
It seems the newly hired coach during the season doesn't get to start with a "clean slate". I'm playing an historical where Boston was struggling. They fired their HC about 50 games in the season. I have no problem with that. But they also fired its replacement about 25 games later. All in the same season. That part probably shouldn't happen. Or it should be ridiculously rare. I've seen it happen fairly often over the iterations of the game. It probably could use a bit of tuning, if possible. Also the HC getting fired on July 1st just one month after winning the Jack Adams happens probably a tad more than it should. Last edited by AdequateRandomGaming; 11-15-2023 at 12:11 PM. |

Yeah I just had another one where the Kraken fire Hakstol, replace him with Jay Leach (ngl, dunno who that is and he has no career stats/history, but anyways) then one month to the day of hiring Mr. Leach there's already a message that he's in "hot water" due to the team's struggles.

I also agree. I saw a coach fired mid-season and the team had the best record of the entire league at the point!

It does feel like that's been an issue for years with coaches being fired for seemingly no reason or too fast. It does break immersion somewhat when a coach is in his first year with the team, especially expansion teams, and they fire him for having a bad start. Let alone if they're having a good season, go on a losing streak, and suddenly fire the coach over it when they probably shouldn't have.

So just wanted to add an experience here. In my custom league the coach of the team with the best record who had gone to the finals the season before was fired.
Struck me as a bit odd since they seem to be running away with the league so far this season.
