Roller Hockey Association Quickstart 2023

Hey all, back with the Roller Hockey Association for FHM10. I started the RHA back on FHM8 and had it imported over to 9. Unfortunately, the original save had a load of bugs that have been fixed over the years like Hall of Fame not working in custom games or Major League teams being unable to sign their prospects if they were contracted to their own farm teams. With all of the issues with the previous versions I figured it would be best to completely start this new quickstart from scratch and I will briefly explain the steps I took to make it.

My first step was planning the whole world out. I really wanted to include junior leagues to make the world feel more realistic and have the user be able to see the career paths the generated players took in their junior years. I did a lot of pre-planning and researching what countries played the most Roller Hockey and what countries were good at it. For overall world structure, I ended up with 1 Major league, 1 Minor farm league, and 6 junior leagues: USA, Canada, Europe, South America, Australia/Oceania, and Asia. Each league varies a little by overall league value, season length, scoring levels, penalties, and fighting so give each one a try if you'd like.

My second step was importing the old files players into the game. I really enjoyed the custom players generated on the old save and I knew a lot of the players by name so my first step was to manually add in every single player from the FHM9/8 version with all of their ratings, contract details, current jersey numbers, etc. Overall I probably added 150 players as well as 56 staff from the old save.

The third and most annoying step was editing almost every junior player in their respective leagues to have proper names, and nationalities and speak the correct language. I had an issue with the initial world setup that caused junior team players' nationalities to be wrong from what I originally set them to be. For example, most of the European teams were made up of about 1/3rd Canadian players and 1/3 American. I estimate I probably edited over 350 players on this step but the good news is that newly generated prospects will have the correct nationalities for their respective junior leagues.

All in all, I probably spent 100+ hours on this quickstart whether it be planning it out, finding logos for teams, renaming players, testing long-term saves, etc. It's not perfect by any means but I'm proud of the effort I have put in and I hope some people on here can enjoy it as well. Thanks to everyone who helped me create this mod over the last couple of years and I'd love to see what you guys can do with it whether it be in this thread or the dynasty reports!

Man, this is some amazing dedication and work, I love it already. Will definitely need to check this out. I've kept holding off for years on updating my own roller hockey quickstart, since every new game has such good features that'll make the league better, but this may be the inspiration needed to get into it finally.

. It would be cool to see your Roller Hockey save as I've seen you mention it a couple of times before. I'm always intrigued by the custom leagues others create for their own fictional universes.

Yeah, I love the fictional universes for OOTP, and it's so rare seeing any others show up here for FHM. It's a welcome surprise to see it. I've got a long road ahead for assembling mine again, lots of players to edit and ensuring all the team info is set correctly, but I did have a lot of fun playing through it for a good while between FHM 5 and 7. Can't wait to have it fully ready again in the new game.

I know I need to put the .quick folder in the Quickstarts section but with the 'megagraphics' folder - do I need to include that cos I can see the quickstart folder comes with a populated graphics folder already? Do I need to merge those two?

Thank you! And to answer your question all of the initial graphics and major league logos are included in the quickstart. The Megagraphics just contain extra team assets if you want to add them later on in the save as well as city cards. Hope that helps.

Recently I've been messing around with Bing's AI image creator and have come up with some pretty cool logos. It's one thing to use other people's concept logos for a team but having your personalized logos brings it to a new level for me. I'm not sure how many teams I'll end up redoing but I'll post my progress here in the meantime. The Dropbox will retain the old assets if you prefer those.

There's no reason this shouldn't be compatible with a fresh FHM11 save, right? As in, not an imported FHM10 save.

I don't see why not, of course, international tournaments will not be enabled since they didn't exist for FHM 10. Since this upload, I have probably created 2 new leagues, around 80 new teams for junior, senior, and collegiate levels, as well as updates to pro league teams that I need to get uploaded to a dropbox and posted here.

Wow, that sounds great - I think I will wait for those updates before starting my save in this universe! Appreciate the work that goes into this!
