Question locks up in sim mode, works in play mode

Hello,

I am having problems after simming a year of baseball. I have the Mets in the World Series against the Yanks. when trying to sim game 4 with the Mets leading the series 2 to 1, when I press the sim button, or press the sim season or playoffs, the computer locks up. I have to power cycle the computer.

BUT, if I press play and start playing the game and then press SIM in the game, it will work.

Now, I have started a new season, and have played about 2 months worth of games, now when pressing sim button, the computer locks up again. I can move the mouse, but the game and computer are useless. Unless it takes hours to start simming, there is a serious bug here. Pressing play works.

Please help.

Try running the computer-manager. The game won't sim if a team's depth chart, lineup, or pitching rotation is not completely filled and computer manager will fix it if that's the problem.

That should be the solution, normally if the computer team has a messed up depth chart or lineup, it crashes. Running auto manager normally fixes it.

Haven't seen this problem myself, so I need more information to really be able to help you.

First has the game ever worked when you pressed sim? If so what did you do within OOTP just before it stopped working? Have you added anything new (utilities or add ons) recently? Had you changed any of the settings on your computer just prior to the sim button not working?

If it was working before and just stopped that would lead me to believe that something changed within the league or leagues, or on your computer that might have caused this problem within the game.

Red face

I was simming along fine, until I got the 4 game of the world series and then the lockups started happening.

I was able to get past the first lockups by pressing play and then simming the game to the end. I started the next season OK, just moving players around and then the lockup happened again after almost 2 months of games.

Should I be waiting longer than 15 minutes for something to happen? I cannot even alt-tab out and have to power off the computer to get back into the game. But I can PLAY the games, just canot SIM then unless I press play and then sim the game.

Weird.

Before you got to game 4 did you change anything on your CPU (install a new program download something from the net?) or did you add any user add ons?

Since it was working before that, it seems like something might have changed in the system for it to spontaneously cease to work.

You can try running the automanager (from the league setup screen), but I'm not sure that, that will fix this problem, an alternative to the automanager is to just hand inspect the lineups to ensure that all lineups, pitching rotations, and depth charts are filled out properly.

Being able to play and not sim seems odd to me are you having to fill any holes in the lineup in before you "play" the games?

I can sim after playing the crashed game, then will work for a few more games and then it forces me to play a game for the sim to start working again.

I have not changed anything on the computer. I have tried the auto manager to see if works. Wonder if there is a bug in the Rolen stat set.

Any more help would be great! Could it be the game is taking forever thinking about something?

Is this the only program that causes problems like this?

Yes it is. I am now playing in sim mode fine. So far after using the auto manage, I have not had a problem for 2 months. I am even simming while I am typing this.

Cross your fingers that the trade of Mo Vaugh and Gabe Kapler to Oakland for Carlos Pena may have done the trick

If it is working now (after running automanager) your problem was that you (or the Yankees) had an invalid lineup (either missing a player or missing a position). If this happens again run the automanager again and you should be alright.

Thanks, I may have had and injury that I was not taking care of, or Cedeno was not showing a position when against a LH + DH. I switched him o center.

I am a happy camper again.
