New to hockey

I’m a long time player of OOTP and I’m looking for a new sim. Would prefer football, but there don’t seem to be any options for Mac users. I’m thinking of giving FHM a try but I know nothing about hockey. Will I be completely lost and overwhelmed?

Overwhelmed? Nah. Confused, yeah probably, but that comes with not being familiar with a sport.
