Game still showing in Steam as running once shutdown

So this is another strange one, the game will still show as running in Steam even when I've shut it down. I will need to manually choose 'Close' on the usual 'Play' button and it will say I need to force close the game etc.

If I do not do this it causes slow down and stuttering when trying to perform other tasks, really weird and not experienced this before.

This is very odd. Not sure if I can ever remember running into this before or not.

One thing that might possibly help here is to verify the install files.

Right click on OOTP 24 in Steam, then go to properties>local files>verify integrity of local files.

Yep it's a weird one. I have managed to get rid of it now, I had left 'tracemode' enabled in the launch options following my last bug report before this and removing that seems to have resolved this on my end, at least.

Good you got it sorted.

We might need to look at tracemode though to see why that's happening. Though it doesn't happen for me on Steam with tracemode on, so it's likely some weird cause that might be hard to track down.

Hey Lukas,

This has re-emerged again..here's a screenshot of my steam client/desktop once I've closed the game (using the exit game function).

As you can see, it's not open in my tray below but is still showing as active in Steam, in the second screenshot is an example of what happens if I click the blue 'X' to close via steam.









Very strange and not really sure what else I'd need to provide to help you with troubleshooting this one as it's not linked to a particular save (it had happened before on my SP and MP games and this was after closing an MP league).

Did anyone ever get to the bottom of this? It started happening for me a couple weeks ago, and now I have to shut down Steam completely if I want to restart OOTP24.

A few other things:

- I didn't make any changes to Steam or OOTP24 that I am aware of;
- I verified the integrity of the local files on Steam;
- OOTP23, which I also have installed via Steam, works fine;
- Every other game I've played on Steam is fine as well;
- Strangely, Steam lets me play other games with OOTP24 "running."
- Even manually trying to shut down OOTP24 does not work; however, closing out of Steam entirely does.
