Creating A League's-Worth of Fictional Logos: A Journey w/ foot

Hi hello chatters!!

This is me, foot, and today I'm gonna start a thread compiling my progress on my fictional league! Will I actually finish this one? Maybe!!

Not the most creative name lol.

SO!! Upon rewriting this post and after messing around with the league a bit, I've got quite a few updates. First: I've simmed from 2003 to 2023 just to get some history in the league. Second: I think I'm gonna upload some YouTube videos about the progress of the league. How involved they'll be, I don't know.

Anyways!! Here's the history and where we're at with the league today. Logos and uniforms will be posted in the coming days!! (hopefully)

Expansion

I ALSO decided I want to plan out the first several expansions. I'm not super knowledgeable about baseball, so I just kinda copied the MLB's expansions from 1901 to present day. Realistically I'll probably do things a lot earlier than planned, but I like to have the schedule anyways.

Not sure when I'll add minor leagues yet, but I don't currently plan on making my own logos for them.

No divisions yet, just two leagues of six each.

In 2012, the league adds two additional teams. The Charlotte Emeralds and the Charleston Lords. Jersey City is moved to the Upper League.
(I didn't realize this gave the leagues an odd number of teams until after the next expansion lmao)

big/small logos

The Allentown Shivers are based on a trip to Allentown I took awhile ago. I was playing Pokémon Go and caught a Snorunt which I named Allen. This is Allen's team. I'm not really sure what else to say.

Here's a preview of the uniforms!!

They're not amazing, but they get the job done. Made with OOTP Uniform Maker.

Also I'm gonna try to space out these posts so that I'm not spamming the forum.

The Baltimore Fox Squirrels have my favorite logo I've designed so far. The reason for the admittedly weird name is that I Googled "Maryland state animal" and fox squirrel was the most interesting result. I now realize that the fox squirrel is just an animal that lives in Maryland, not an officially recognized state symbol. But here we are.

I wanted to do an Orioles-like cartoon styled logo. I think I did a pretty good job, although I'm not much of an artist haha.

Uniforms:

I think the home uniforms might be kind of similar to the Yankees? Not sure if I mentioned it here yet, but I don't know much about baseball lol. Either way, I like the home jersey well enough. Also: you can't see it here, but the home uniform's pants have the logo on the side.

The away jersey I think needs to be toned down a bit. Maybe I just need to lower the saturation of the blue and orange, idk... Either way, that was team number 2. Look forward to number 3!!!!

logo/cap logo

Hi again, chatters!! I made this logo during a livestream last night and wanted to show it off right away so I'm going out of order a bit.

So, Pittsylvania is actually a county in Virginia and I'm not totally sure if that's allowed. But, also, there are teams named after states, so why not counties? The trout is the state fish of Virginia, among many other states and I truly had no idea what to do for Pittsylvania. I just picked it because it's a funny name.

Absolutely love this dude though. He's just a silly guy and we love him for it. The cap logo was me trying to figure out how to draw a trout and I decided it could be the cap logo.

Uniforms:


I AM NOT a fan of the font, but it was kind of a pain to make... So we're keeping it.

Anyway chatters, should I upload the uniforms so that people can use them? I don't think any of them look great, but maybe someone wants them. I also have a TON of logos I made for a different league that I'd like to post, but they don't really fit in this thread.

That's cool, glad I'm not breaking any rules lol. And thank you! I definitely want to get better at uniforms, but I think this one's decent minus the illegible font haha.

logo/small logo

I'm not super happy with the main logo, but I think it's fine. It's based on New Jersey's state bird, the American Goldfinch. " The Jersey City American Goldfinches" didn't really roll off the tongue, so I went with the Jersey City Goldies.

I just kinda drew a cartoony bird and liked it. Unfortunately I wasn't really able to recapture what I loved about my paper sketch virtually, but it's still fine for now. The beak working as a J/C was an accident, but I think it's cute.

Uniforms:


I'm pretty sure these are my favorite uniforms I've done. They're relatively simple, which I think I should focus on. I've oftentimes prioritized something that looks very unique over something that looks... well, good. I may redo some previously posted jerseys. And by "may" I mean I'm 100% redoing the Trout's Jersey and I'll have to consider the others.

logo/small logo

Probably my dumbest team name yet, the Orlando Black Zebra have a logo I actually like a lot!!

I honestly don't remember how I came up with the name... It may have been as simple as I saw a picture of a zebra at a zoo when googling Orlando. I know that was how one or two of the teams got their names, but I can't remember if this was one of them.

Either way, with a black & black color scheme, they'll absolutely hate playing during the day!

Uniforms:


I think these are pretty decent uniforms over all. Not sure if the non-white back of the home jersey is breaking any rules, but I don't really care! I think it's easy enough to tell they're the home team and that's good with me.

I like the front of the away jersey a lot. Big fan of the fonts too! I actually meant to switch the home jersey to the same fonts, but I'm just realizing I forgot.

Before I go, here's a look at the first draft of the Black Zebra logo! I thought they would be a good candidate for a more cartoony logo, but I couldn't get it right. Here's my attempt anyways. Bye!

I AM BACK!!!!

Portland, Maine is definitely in my top 2 Portlands so I had to give them a team. I wanted to name them the Portland Phoenix, but decided I didn't like how that sounded. Fire Birds sounds more like a sports team anyways, imo.

I knew I wouldn't be able to draw a good phoenix, so I figured I'd make one of those boring logos that are just letters. Baseball teams sure love that type of logo. I do like this logo, I think it's kind of cool, although the B might've been better off as yellow or orange. At the time, I wasn't sure about the colors of another team being too similar so I just went with a darker red.

Uniforms:


As with many other uniforms I've designed, I think one of these is pretty good and I hate the other. In case anyone's wondering, I'm not remaking the uniforms I dislike at the moment so that I can finally start playing the game. If I waited to play until every team was 100% done I would, uh... never play lol.

Anyways, I think the home uniform is good; it may have the same issue as the Black Zebra's though. The away uniform I think would be fine if I remove the pinstripes. Right now I'm not a big fan, though.

Hello chatters, I have a quick update!!

I've still been working on logos and uniforms, I just haven't posted any. The process to resize and upload the logos to a file hosting site is more time consuming than I'd like to be honest. I may end up just posting logos in batches and linking to a google drive or something with them all, if that's allowed.

Google Drive is just drag and drop for files, so pretty easy. What program are you using to resize/create?

I've just been resizing them in Krita, my usual art software. Really the resizing isnt that big of a deal. It's a little annoying when I have to do a lot of logos, but not a huge deal. It's mainly just uploading them all to imgur. It takes awhile.

I think I'll probably make a big image with all the logos for each division. Then maybe another image with all the uniforms, we'll see. Then just a Google Drive link in the initial post or maybe my signature.

Any suggestions are certainly welcome, though!!

We all have our process and reasons we do things the way we do, but I have found that to be pretty easy for me.

Hello!! I'm finally back and have four teams to show you!!
This is the Upper League Outer Division. I'm pretty happy with how these turned out, so let's just get into it!



First off: Nova Scotia! I really love the way this logo turned out and I think the uniforms are fun too.
The Red Claws got their name when I was googling things about Nova Scotia and saw something about them being known for their lobsters. Is it true? I have no idea! But I really like this team regardless.



Portland is a fun one! It was the last team I posted about in this thread and I've already redone the uniforms!!
The Fire Birds got their name because Portland, Oregon was named after Portland, Maine, which was named after the Isle of Portland. Hardly the only time the same name has been used in multiple places, but I liked the idea of Portland being like a phoenix that continually comes back.



The Manchester Spooks! I absolutely LOVE their ballcaps. They're little jack-o-lanterns!
Honestly, the Spooks got their name because I couldn't find much interesting about Manchester, New Hampshire. I saw an ad for some Halloween festival there and so the Spooks were born. I like Manchester because there are SO many Manchesters, you can kind of feel like you're rooting for them even if you don't live in Manchester, NH specifically.


Springfield have my least favorite uniforms of the bunch, but I still like them well enough. I like the ballcaps a lot.
The Hot Rods got their name from... I think it was just a picture of a cool looking car on the Springfield, Massachusetts Wikipedia page. That's it.

I think calling them the Spookies or Spookys would be a bit better, plus, even sillier
