Game becomes unresponsive when accessing News

This only occurs with the online league that I play in. Other players in the league have experienced the same issue. I have uploaded the league file as Brewster.lg.zip.

Any time that I attempt to access News, the game becomes unresponsive. Usually this requires me to use task manager to end the program. Occasionally, when I right-click the OOTP 24 task bar icon and request to Close All WIndows, the game will pop the dialog box asking if I really want to close it. If I say no, it returns to normal operation until I attempt to read News again.

Any of these activities cause the problem: League News, Inbox, Mail & News, Transaction News.

From what I can tell, there seems to simply be a lot of messages in the save file, which is why things are taking so long to load. We're still looking into some issues around this, and to see if there's an easy solution.

The problem is that your database is essentially filling up with messages. Unfortunately, the only direct solution available to you right now would be to delete all messages (there is an option for that for the commissioner in the Database Tools menu on the setup page). That will obviously clear out ALL messages, so all league news, team news, scouting messages, etc... It should allow you back into the news pages, and presumably it would take a number of years for the DB to fill up again.

For next year, we can certainly look into other options for either optimizing some of that data, or allowing other cleanup options. If we see any other temporary options, we can let you know as well.
