Confusion…
I just got knocked out of the PTCS - Weekly PD in game 7 of the second round.
I lost 2-1 and am very confused at my AI managers thinking… My 95 Baseball Ref Dustin Ackley was pinch hit for in 8th inning of a tie game with 68 Sid Gordon (who prompted GIDP)… it was facing a lefty, but I didn’t adjust my sliders and Ackley has better ratings against lefties than Gordon anyway. Why did the AI make that choice? Ackley was raking in the tourney and Gordon went 0-10… |

If the sliders were all completely neutral then the AI's common response is to pinch-hit with a right-handed batter in high-leverage situations, particularly if the left-handed pitcher is much better against lefties. If you're playing with a roster that has large variations in player ability (which is all Perfect Drafts), best practice is to check "Never lift for a Pinch Hitter" on your best position players. OTOH, it's possible that Gordon had a better chance against the lefty, especially if he has extreme splits (like 94 Dave Righetti).
