Ratings not changing after updating thru the Editor

I remember this happening with last year's version. I am in Commissioner Mode. Just for grins and giggles, I gave Bryan Reynolds 200 power 'across the board' in Editor. NOTHING CHANGED! He stayed a 69/70. That shouldn't be happening.



What do I have to check or uncheck to make this work?

Ensure you hit enter so the changes stuck, and that you recalculated his current (and potentials) as there is a button there for that. This will change the sample stat line there in the editor. If that doesn’t work maybe then rescout him. Or is scouting off?

Thx. I hit Enter. I have no idea how to recalculate. I NEVER had to do that in the past. I hit the 'Recalculate based on stats' but that didn't work.


Scouting is on. I never had to rescout. I would just make changes and the rating would change.

If you change ratings in the editor and have scouting on, the player profile won't update until you rescout the player. This may not apply if scouting accuracy is set to 100%

What you see in the player profile is the scout's estimate of the player ratings. If you changed the ratings in the editor, how would the scout know until he scouts the player again?

Bryan Reynolds should still rake though, because the 200 power rating is there regardless of whether the scout sees it.

If I edited a player, I goto League Settings, then Global Settings and click the Run Full Re-Scouting button after I was done. The edited player shows up after that for me.

However....

The below makes me question what you just wrote. I loaded 1973 using all game defaults. I changed two players' CONTACt values to 150, Milt May and Manny Sanguillen. BOTH of their ratings instantly updated to near 70.
I upgraded their catcher abilities to 175. Both instantly became 70 Catchers. I did NOT have to rescout them.


I decided to try 2023 again, but this time, like 1973, I used default game values. I, again, gave Reynolds 200/200 power and gave Johan Oviedo 200 control ratings. NEITHER had their ratings INSTANTLY update.


Why did it work with 1973 and NOT 2023??


Btw, since I have never had to rescout any player in my 11 years of owning OOTP, I have ZERO idea how to do that? Is there a global way to do that or do I have to do it with each player. Hopefully, not the former.


I thought that I had this issue with 2023, but I was mistaken since there is no blog post from me about it in my history. As McGuire famously said, "I misremembered".

I loaded 2023 and 1973 using default values and Scouting On as a result. 2023 wouldn't automatically update, yet 1973 did? That doesn't make sense, does it?



After I turned Scouting off for 2023, everything updated.


Btw, thxfor that Global Settings/Run Full Re*Scouting. I never had to use it. Now I will.

If you are playing with scouting disabled (or on 100%), then the ratings changes will appear immediately. By default single season historical replays default scouting off, modern games default scouting on.
